Florianópolis, a Brazilian destination to enjoy post-pandemic

The local authorities advanced the news for the first summer in which festive activities and tourism will return to work without restrictions. Argentines and Chileans are expected to be the most numerous international visitors

The Florianópolis anthem describes it as "a little piece of land that was lost to the sea", and for thousands of South American tourists the capital of Santa Catarina is among their best memories of summer seasons. The musical verse is a good definition of "Floripa", one of the most beautiful cities on the Santa Catarina coast, whose territory is made up of a main island, a continental area, small islands and famous coastal spots such as Camboriú, Imbituba and Praia do Rosa. Trails in the middle of nature, panoramic viewpoints, dunes, lagoons, good gastronomy, boat trips and a vibrant nightlife are part of the menu of the second Brazilian destination -after Rio de Janeiro- most visited by Argentine tourists who travel to Brazil .

In the 2022-2023 summer season, the agenda of the capital of Santa Catarina will once again celebrate traditional festivals such as Christmas, Reveillon (New Year) with its fireworks show and Carnival, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The authorities foresee a hotel occupancy of more than 80% of the total capacity and have already advanced some of the novelties of which visitors should take note.

The beaches of Florianópolis are its main attraction and each one attracts a certain public profile. For those who want to party, the must-see is Jurerê Internacional; For surf lovers there are the beaches of Joaquina, Campeche, Mole and Praia Brava. Forte, Daniela and Barra da Lagoa are the most popular destinations for families with children. For those who like movement and having several nearby shopping options, there are Canasvieiras and Ingleses. Another one that cannot be missing from the itinerary is Lagoinha do Norte, where the landscape is incredible. For this season in Floripa, four model beaches will be opened, with standardized tables and chairs, and the strip of sand at Playa de los Ingleses will be expanded, a work that will be ready by the end of the year.

The local government will launch an augmented reality application to help tourists better understand the important points of the city. Through a QR code, users will have the help of a "virtual guide".
The municipality registered a thousand street vendors to facilitate the control of their activities: they must report through an APP during their working hours on the beaches and tourists will be able to send their evaluation of the service they provide.
A revitalization of the historic central area of the city is underway, including the Public Market and the Customs facilities.

The Christmas program begins on November 24, with parades in Plaza XV and the Hercílio Luz Bridge, presentations by the Camerata de Natal and other attractions in various neighborhoods of the capital.
On December 31, the Reveillon (New Year) party returns with a fireworks display on the Beira-mar Norte beach and on the Hercílio Luz bridge, symbol of the city, the object of renovation in recent months.
After two years of prohibition due to health regulations, the local government will focus on the organization and support of the 2023 Carnival, which will have municipal incentives for the blocos (comparsas) and the parade in the Passarela Nego Quirido, the "sambadrome" of Floripa.
Florianópolis Airport -considered the best in Brazil- will add 26 new frequencies before the summer, seven of them from South American countries, including Chile and Argentina.

HOW TO GET

Floripa Airport is the most popular arrival destination for international tourists; It is located in the south of the island, 18 km from the center of the capital. For those who arrive by bus, the destination is the Terminal Rodoviária Rita Maria and finally those who go by car must access through the BR-101 route and continue to the access bridges to the island, Hercílio Luz and Pedro Ivo. Although Florianópolis transportation is functional, owning or renting a car offers more freedom of movement, although in the high season (especially during the New Year holidays), the streets and access routes to the beaches are very crowded.
