Uruguay was successfully presented in Santiago de Chile

More than 70 tour operators and journalists participated today in a presentation in Santiago de Chile

Under the slogan "Experience Uruguay", the presentation focused on vacation tourism and various Uruguayan destinations were shown through videos and activities to be carried out in each one —such as golf, wine tourism, shows, cruises, among other activities—. Also, the opportunities that the country has to carry out professional events (called MICE for the acronym in English “Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing & Exhibitions”) and the benefits that the government grants to the sector were pointed out.

On the other hand, benefits for non-residents who want to vacation in Uruguay were announced: from the tax credit equivalent to 10.5% of the gross amount of the agreed price in temporary rentals of real estate for tourism purposes (included in Decree No. 377/012); Zero VAT both in hotels or accommodation and in gastronomic services, catering services for holding parties and events, and vehicle rentals without a driver; Tax Free regime; 30% discount on fuel (naphtha) with the payment of credit or debit cards, on the sale price, at stations located within a radius of 20 km from the following border crossing points, with the Argentine Republic: Fray Bentos – Puerto Unzué, Paysandú – Colón, Salto – Concordia; with the Federative Republic of Brazil: Chuy, Rio Branco, Aceguá, Rivera, Artigas and Bella Union; among others.

The presentation was led by Marina Cantera and María Julia Fernández from the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism, president and coordinator of Promotion and Diffusion respectively; Paola Bianchi, in charge of the Tourism Offer Strategic Planning in Tourism of the Ministry of Tourism; and Lucía Amestoy from Cynsa Uruguay.

During the activity, the JetSmart company presented the Santiago-Montevideo route. In addition, it announced four weekly frequencies for January and February (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays) and three for March and June (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays).

The event was attended by Alberto Fajardo, Uruguay's ambassador to Chile. For the closing, the drum line of the Katanga comparsa of Uruguayans residing in the neighboring country was presented and also raffles.
