The National Secretariat of Tourism (SENATUR) received the pleasant news that highlights the so-called "Missionary Tour" as the winner of the 2022 Excellence in Tourism Award.
The award will be received by the Minister of Tourism, Sofía Montiel de Afara, within the framework of the FITUR International Tourism Fair in Madrid, Spain, on Wednesday, January 18 at 5:00 p.m. in the South Auditorium.
The news was given by José Carlos Santiago, president of Grupo Excelencias, an international communication cluster that promotes excellence in fields related to tourism, gastronomy, art and culture.
The Missionary Tour was chosen by a jury made up of 9 personalities from different countries in the world of Tourism, Art and Gastronomy, who have made the selection of the winners, among a long list of candidates.
The proposal presented by SENATUR provides broad participation to different locations in the department of Misiones, making small producers visible and integrating them into tourism.
It seeks to preserve culture, local customs and highlight collaborative work with authentic gastronomy and great potential for the development of tourist experiences.
The awarded circuit proposes to promote the industrial development of the department of Misiones, Paraguay, to revalue and promote local products such as missionary chorizo, fish-based dishes and sheep production. It highlights the tourist destinations of an area blessed with natural and cultural attractions and deep-rooted traditions.
The Excelencias Awards, which are held, were created in 2005 by the Excelencias Group, and have become a benchmark in the field of tourism and gastronomy in Latin America. In the 2022 edition, awards will be given to projects from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Paraguay.
