Hilton today announced the opening of Hilton Santa Marta, the second Hilton hotel in Colombia's oldest Hispanic city. Overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the contemporary 261-room property is within walking distance of the beach and conveniently located near the Sierra Nevada mountains and the ancient ruins of Tayrona Natural Park. The newly built hotel features five unique dining experiences, more than 1,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, and a host of amenities.

“The opening of the Hilton Santa Marta is an exciting addition to our rapidly growing portfolio of more than 200 hotels in the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Jorge Giannattasio, Hilton's senior vice president and chief operating officer, Caribbean and Latin America. "We are delighted to open our second hotel in Santa Marta and offer a superior experience together with the friendly service of Hilton in this unique destination in Colombia that combines beaches, mountains and exuberant nature."

13 kilometers (8.1 mi) from the historic center of Santa Marta and 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) from Simón Bolívar International Airport, Hilton Santa Marta offers an ideal location for guests visiting the city. This first Spanish settlement established in 1525, Santa Marta is the gateway to the Tayrona Natural Park, a reserve with more than 15,000 hectares of white sand beaches with crystal clear waters nestled in a lush forest on the slopes of the mountain. The terrestrial and marine park is also home to archaeological sites, indigenous communities and diverse flora and fauna.

Inspired by its surroundings, the contemporary design of the Hilton Santa Marta creates an elegant and warm atmosphere through elements such as stones, wood, metals and glass. The main entrance of the hotel has a Tayrona stone reflecting pool and a façade made up of a metallic structure inspired by the nearby coral reefs, which allows a perfect integration of the interior with the exterior through a harmonious flow of natural light. .

The hotel's design concept extends to the room corridors, decorated with wood carvings by local artisans and showcasing the area's diverse marine life, including manta rays, lion fish and turtles. The spacious rooms offer balconies with ocean or mountain views, ample closet space, and a large shower. For those looking for more spacious accommodations, suites with a separate living room with a sofa bed allow travelers to relax, particularly in the 'Ocean Front Suite Terrace' and its oversized furnished balcony with whirlpool tub, sitting area large living room and spacious dining room.

“We are delighted to expand the footprint of Hilton's flagship brand in this spectacular destination with the debut of Hilton Santa Marta,” said Leonard Gooz, Global Brand Leader, Hilton Hotels & Resorts. "Hilton Hotels & Resorts will continue to set the benchmark for hospitality at this new property with intuitive service and world-class amenities, including a variety of dining options, contemporary design with local influences and exceptional event experiences."

Unique gastronomic experiences

Hilton Santa Marta presents five unique culinary concepts showcasing local cuisine and international flavors, with restaurant names that honor the native Arhuaco language.

Meaning "salt," Nuggu Restaurant and Bar pays homage to Colombia's rich history with Latin soul food and authentic Caribbean Creole dishes. Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, guests can also drop in for a cocktail or glass of wine throughout the day.

Located on the second floor near the hotel spa and gym, Waku, or “fish” in Arhuaco, offers a selection of seafood and catch of the day in a vibrant atmosphere.

Guests lounging poolside can enjoy a globally inspired lunch and refreshing drinks honoring local fruits at the Uzu Pool Bar, or "sand."

The highest rooftop in the city, Sikunu, or "slingshot," is located on the 16th floor of the hotel. The Creole menu is influenced by pre-Hispanic cultures and is based on the flowers of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The signature cocktails are inspired by the Arhuaco, including the clove and anise maceration.

Guests can enjoy the sand, the sea and the famous Santa Marta sunset from the hotel's beach club, while enjoying a selection of snacks and cocktails.
