Until November, more than 24 billion dollars entered Mexico for international visitors

The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that the income of foreign currency from international visitors from January to November 2022 was 24 thousand 969 million dollars, this is 44.9% more compared to 2021; and also surpassing with 13% the foreign exchange received in the same period of 2019, which were 22 thousand 92 million dollars.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) highlighted that, based on the results of the International Travelers Survey published by INEGI, between January and November 2022, 34 million 70 thousand international tourists entered the country, which represents 20.9 % more compared to what was captured in 2021; being 15.5% away from reaching the 40 million 310 thousand international tourists who entered in the same period of 2019.

He pointed out that the average expenditure of international tourists in the period January-November 2022 was 689.4 dollars, which means 20.8% more compared to 2021, and also exceeding by 38.3% the 498.3 dollars registered in the same period of 2019.

Torruco Marqués reported that, in the first 11 months of 2022, 19 million 41 thousand international tourists by air arrived in Mexico, this represents 51.3% more compared to 2021, also exceeding 8.4% of international tourists by air captured in the same period of 2019, which were 17 million 574 thousand tourists.

He commented that the income of foreign exchange by tourists entering by air from January to November 2022 had an increase of 50.2% compared to 2021, registering 21 thousand 140 million dollars, and an increase of 19.5% compared to 17 thousand 689 million dollars. dollars raised in the same period of 2019.

He pointed out that the average expenditure of tourists admitted by air during January-November 2022, registered one thousand 110.2 dollars; being only 0.7% away from reaching the 2021 figure, and exceeding by 10.3 the average expense of one thousand 6.5 dollars, registered between January-November 2019.

The Secretary of Tourism stressed that between January and November 2022, 58 million 783 thousand international visitors entered the country, registering a growth of 19.1% compared to 2021; being 33.3% away from reaching the arrival of international visitors in the same period of 2019, when 88 million 89 thousand international visitors arrived.

He added that, from January to November 2022, the balance of the balance for international travelers was 18 thousand 638 million dollars, this is 47.4% more than what was registered in January-November 2021; also exceeding with 41.6% the balance of 13 thousand 161 million dollars raised in the same period of 2019.

The head of Sectur specified that these figures suggest that expectations will be met that by the end of 2022, Mexico will have attracted 27,429 million dollars from international visitors, which will represent 11.6% more than what was registered in 2019.
