The hotels in Mexico were distinguished in the Prix Villégiature 2022

The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that within the framework of the twentieth edition of the "Prix Villégiature 2022" awards held at the Residence of the Embassy of Mexico in France, in Paris, two hotels in our country: Azulik Tulum and Sofitel Ciudad de México.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) indicated that these awards are given to the best hotels in the world, in 20 categories, and highlighted that 11 hotels in Mexico were nominated in different categories, making it the second country with the most nominations after France, despite being the first time that Mexico competed for this recognition.

The delivery of the Prix Villégiature 2022 was headed by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Mexico in France and before the Principality of Monaco, Hon. Mrs. Blanca E. Jiménez Cisneros; she who highlighted the wide tourist offer that our country offers to international visitors, and congratulated the award-winning hotels as well as the recognized ones.

The hotels that received their award at this ceremony were the Azulik Tulum hotel, in the Best Artistic Universe category; while the Sofitel Ciudad de México hotel was awarded in the Best Interior Design and Architecture category.

It should be noted that most of the nominated Mexican hotels were proposed by the Embassy of Mexico in France. This is based on Sectur's premium tourism quality program, "Treasures of Mexico".

The main purpose of this program is to promote the excellence of hotels and restaurants, whose high standards of service, architectural and gastronomic characteristics, reflect and promote the richness of Mexican culture.

The jury for the 2022 Prix Villégiature was made up of 22 journalists from around the world, specialists in high-class tourism; The award ceremony was attended by senior executives and owners of the best and most prestigious hotels in the world, as well as the full jury and members of the diplomatic corps, as well as journalists, businessmen and artists.

The hotels in Mexico nominated in eight categories of the 2022 Prix Villégiature Awards were: Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, in the Best Hotel category; Hacienda de San Antonio, in Comala, Colima, Best Resort; Sofitel Reforma Mexico City, Hotel la Purificadora, in Puebla, and Hotel Boutique 1850, in Guanajuato, Best Hotel Design and Architecture; Live Aqua Urban Resort San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Best Hotel Pool; Hotel Santa Rita Zacatecas and Azulik Tulum, Best Hotel Artistic Universe; Molino de los Reyes Hotel, in Quiahuixtlán, Tlaxcala, Best Hotel Breakfast; The Grand at Moon Palace, in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Best Hotel for Children; and Casa del Alma Hotel Boutique & Spa, San Cristóbal de las Casas, Best Hotel Creativity.

The Secretary of Tourism recognized the work carried out by the Embassy of Mexico in France as part of its commitment to promoting tourism in our country abroad, whose actions are reflected in the arrival of more international tourists to our country with a high level of spending, who seek to enjoy the wide range of luxury tourism that Mexico offers, and which translates into a greater capture of foreign currency for tourism.
