Buenos Aires presented its novelties in Madrid

Visit Buenos Aires, the public-private agency for the international promotion of the city, participated in FITUR and carried out different actions with tour operators and the press in the Spanish capital

With the objective of positioning Buenos Aires as the most attractive destination in Latin America, with a focus on the strategic segments MICE, luxury tourism and LGBTQ+, an intense work schedule was carried out where the main gastronomic and cultural innovations of the city.

Spain occupies fifth place in the ranking of foreign tourist arrivals, only behind neighboring countries and the United States. Since the reopening of tourism, an improvement in the recovery of Spanish tourists in Buenos Aires has been observed month after month. Indeed, during November (latest data available) a 72% level of tourists was reached in relation to the same month of 2019.

“Introducing ourselves at one of the main fairs in the sector worldwide is extremely important to us, since this type of exchange of experiences collaborates with the recovery of the sector. From the City Tourism Entity, we take care of generating an offer that is attractive enough so that Visit Buenos Aires can disseminate it and, in this way, work together for the recovery of international tourism," said Lucas Delfino, President of the Entity of Tourism. Visit Buenos Aires entertained tour operators, the Spanish press and special guests with an event held at Green Patio where Buenos Aires cocktails were promoted. The Argentine bartender Luis Inchaurraga, newly awarded as the best mixologist in Spain in the World Class Competition, presented a tribute cocktail to Buenos Aires.

Subsequently, the choreographer Ignacio Jimenez and the dancers Casandra Estefano and Santiago Suárez delighted the guests with a very special piece of contemporary Tango produced exclusively for this occasion; and the Argentine DJ Germán Zito accompanied the dishes of chef Gabriela Tassile, Argentine gastronomic ambassador in Madrid, with his set.

“Spain is the main issuer of European tourists to Buenos Aires. We are working hard with the private sector to promote all the city's offer and continue to promote this market”, commented Karina Perticone, Executive Director of Visit Buenos Aires.

Visit Buenos Aires participated in FITUR together with the Argentine LGBT Chamber of Commerce (CCGLAR) with a stand in the LGBTQI+ sector of the Fair. In addition to all the city's offer, the first stage of the www.VisitBuenosAires.LGBT platform was presented

Two presentations were also made on the FITUR stage, one by Karina Perticone, Executive Director of Visit Buenos Aires together with Pablo De Luca, president of the Argentine LGBT Chamber of Commerce and the second by Gustavo Noguera (CCGLAR) on the two 2023 editions of Gnetwork360, the International Conference on LGBTQI+ Business and Tourism, to be held from September 5 to 8 in Buenos Aires and from November 14 to 15 in Madrid this year.

Within the framework of this trip, Visit Buenos Aires also made different destination presentations for Spanish travel operators and agents and meetings with airlines and representatives of the private sector.

These actions are the continuation of the work carried out in 2022, where, in addition to a cooperative promotion agreement with Iberia, a destination presentation was held for 40 outbound tour operators and travel agents and an event for the press in September.
