Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo were included in the TripAdvisor ranking of the best destinations in the world. The cities were selected for the 2023 Travellers' Choice Awards, which showcase travelers' favorite destinations, hotels, restaurants and activities based on reviews and opinions collected from people around the world on Tripadvisor over a 12-month period.
Rio de Janeiro was one of the winners in the “World's Most Popular Destinations” category. Tourists highlighted its beaches, considered dazzling, and “dramatic” mountains. Samba and Bossa Nova were chosen as the destination's soundtrack and Ipanema beach as “an incredible place to walk, sunbathe, see and be seen”.
The carnival was defined as "an exuberant party, with a great show of music, dance and costumes." Among the advice of travelers, the platform suggests a visit to Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf, Maracaná, Sambódromo and Escadaria Selarón, in Lapa. Hang gliding and sailing trips complete the tour.
