VISIT FLORIDA and Discover the Palm Beaches held an event with the press for them to visit and learn about the most outstanding points and spaces in Miami. During the visit, they carried out different activities that allowed them to know everything that is close and available for tourists to enjoy.
In addition, the President and CEO of VISIT FLORIDA, Dana Young, and the CMO of Discover the Palm Beaches, Milton Segarra, were present. They were in charge of the event in which the new data on the VISA times and the current economic and political situation were disclosed.
On the one hand, international visits to Florida continue to recover. Currently, a number of 9.81 million visitors was reached, 5.3 million more than in 2021. In turn, overseas visits reached 7.02 million in 2022, significant growth compared to the previous year.
Regarding Canadians who visited Florida, the recovery number reaches 2.79 million in 2022, far exceeding the 454,000 in 2021. In addition, the most considered destinations to visit in the United States are Florida, New York and California. Within Florida, the greatest interest is in Miami, followed by the Orlando Area, Fort Lauderdale, Florida Keys and Palm Beach.
Visitors from the UK arrived in 2022 at 1.11 million, much more than the 139 thousand in 2021. The most considered states were New York, Florida and California. In turn, within Florida, interest was focused on the Orlando Area, Miami, Florida Keys and Palm Beach. To close with the European countries, the Germans who arrived in Florida in 2022 were 259 thousand against the 56 thousand received in 2021.
Starting with the Mexicans, 443 thousand arrived in Florida and the most considered destinations were New York, California and Florida. Within this last State, the places chosen were Miami, Orlando Area and Palm Beach.
For their part, 560,000 Colombians arrived on the beaches of Florida during 2022, which means a drop compared to 2021. Something opposite happened with the Brazilians: 709,000 visited Florida in 2022 against 132,000 in 2021. In turn, 354 thousand arrived on the beaches of Florida against 227 thousand of 2021.
Another destination that decreased the number of tourists who traveled to this destination is Peru: it went from 261,000 in 2021 to 188,000 in 2022. The same happened with Ecuador: it went from 237,000 to 196,000. However, Chile went from 128 thousand to 240 thousand.
