Embratur and the Government of Alagoas will build alliances to expand the international promotion of the state's tourist destinations and attractions. The president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, received this Thursday (02/02) the Secretary of Tourism of Alagoas, Bárbara Braga, in Brasilia, who presented the policies that she considers to be priorities for attracting foreign tourists.

Among them, the recruitment of new international flights and the qualification of local tourism trade professionals. According to Bárbara Braga, in 2022, 4,000 new beds will be added to the Alagoas hotel network. “We have a forecast of another 4,000 new beds by the end of 2024. We need new flights, guaranteeing a greater number of international tourists. Our hotel chain is ready for this step”, highlighted the secretary.

Currently, the state receives two international flights, one direct to Buenos Aires operated by GOL, and another flight to Lisbon operated by TAP, this one with a stopover in Natal (RN). The Embratur president promised to bring the demand for more flights to Alagoas to the meetings with the airlines that he will hold in the coming weeks.

Information and Planning

During the meeting, Marcelo Freixo highlighted the need to structure an information network between Embratur and the State Secretariats of Tourism, as a way of obtaining data on international tourists arriving in the country, in order to define the best promotion strategies for Brazil in the outside.

“We need qualified data. We need to know the international tourist who arrives, his profile, his wishes, his origin, to define our action strategy. Here at Embratur, we are going to have a management team to collect and organize this data, working together with the secretariats, because the production of data has a lot to do with the border”, stated Marcelo Freixo.

The secretary aligned herself with the need for joint work in this regard. “One thing that Alagoas really needs is data. Now we have created a Data Superintendency to start monitoring indicators, goals and results”, said Bárbara.
