The cargo airline DHL Aero Expreso SA began its operations in 1996 in Panama City and, since then, has been expanding its operations with the DHL Express division in the Americas. Now, the airline takes another step in its expansion process with the arrival to the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA).

The company continues to expand its air cargo capacity to meet the growing demand for shipments derived mainly from the e-commerce sector. In recent years, the demand for shipments has had an unprecedented performance by its clients in the Americas, both in the B2C and B2B segments. For this reason, DHL Express, the world's leading express delivery and logistics company that is part of the Deutsche Post DHL Group, is carrying out an expansion plan in the Americas of USD 360 million in investments between 2020 and 2022.

Recently, the company expanded direct services between Panama, the United States and Chile with the inauguration of a flight with the Panama - Miami - Santiago route; as well as the new Miami-Viracopos route, which benefits customers who ship between Asia, North America and Brazil, by giving them better connectivity with Brazil and Central America through the connection in Colombia, which also doubles the capacity of export for Colombian clients.

“For DHL Aero Expreso SA it is an honor to be part of ALTA. We are proudly a Latin American airline that connects our continent to DHL's global network and therefore to customers around the world. Our focus is on continuing to develop in the Americas and for this, both ALTA and its members are an integral part of the strategy, opening opportunities and creating new relationships while collaborating with friendly companies, cutting-edge entities and open authorities to facilitate the development of our industry. We appreciate the acceptance of our application, fully certain that this marks a milestone for us and will surely catapult our vision to a new level”, comments Pablo Rousselin, Executive Director and General Manager of DHL Aero Expreso SA

“We are very proud to welcome DHL Aero Expreso SA into the ALTA family. Cargo has always been a fundamental part of the air operation and, in fact, 80% of the world's value of transported goods moves by air. Aviation plays an essential role in supply chains transporting essential, perishable and urgent goods that move economies, create opportunities and meet urgent needs, even in remote locations. DHL has high standards of customer service in the field of export and import of goods and supplies, it is a company that adapts to market changes and wants to continue growing in Latin America and the Caribbean. For this reason, we feel honored to have joined the association and we are sure that together we will work on important initiatives to improve operating conditions in the region and generate benefits for the countries and the population. ALTA has a cargo working group that began meetings in 2021 and is gaining more strength to meet the needs of this segment. DHL will undoubtedly be a great contribution”, says José Ricardo Botelho, Executive Director and CEO of ALTA.

In Panama, DHL Aero Expreso SA has its main base of operations at Tocumen International Airport. Its fleet is made up entirely of Boeing aircraft registered in Panama, versatile enough to serve multiple markets of its cargo and courier network.
