The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, and the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, announced that the Tianguis Turístico México 2023, which will be held for the first time in the capital of the country of From March 26 to 29, it reports 1,113 national and international buyers from 685 companies, from 55 countries on the 5 continents, including Mexico.

"With these figures, just six weeks after the celebration of the Tianguis Turístico, we can anticipate that we will break all the marks established in previous editions," the secretary emphasized.

In this vein, Torruco Marqués also announced that, at the end of 2022, the historical record in foreign exchange was broken, registering 28 thousand 16 million dollars, 14 percent more than in 2019, as a result of the strategy implemented since the beginning of the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for tourism, to encourage the capture of foreign currency, which is how the tourist potential of a nation is measured.

He highlighted that, for the first time in the most important tourism fair in Latin America, there will be a Mundo Maya pavilion, with the presence of Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico, as well as the Mayan Train and Tag Airlines, a multi-destination tourism product. which after 36 years has connectivity thanks to the Cancun-Flores, AIFA-Guatemala routes, among others.

He also pointed out that it will be the first Tourist Tianguis in which there will be a pavilion for national and international airlines that connect Mexico with the rest of the world, as well as a space for Punto México, which will shelter local crafts.

Torruco Marqués explained that the keynote conference program contemplates the participation of two special guests: Rosario Marín, the first woman born in Mexico to hold the position of Treasurer of the United States of America; and Carlos Slim Domit, president of the Telmex Board of Directors. Likewise, more than 30 virtual seminars will be given on various topics of current interest.

He explained that, as part of the activities program, on Saturday March 25 there will be a special event, coordinated by the federal Sectur, exclusively for national and international buyers, leaders and senior managers of the tourism industry.

On Sunday, March 26, at 4:00 p.m., President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will lead the Opening Ceremony of the 47th Tianguis Turístico México 2023 at the Citibanamex Convention Center, and at 6:30 p.m., a welcome dinner that offers the Government of Mexico City.

He stressed that on Monday, March 27, the ribbon cutting of the 47th edition of the Tianguis Turístico México 2023 will take place, and later the already traditional "Inclusion Parade", as this is the third time that the event will be inclusive, to highlight the importance of accessibility for people with disabilities in the tourism sector. After this, the business appointments will begin.

The Secretary of Tourism explained that on Tuesday the 28th, after the business appointments, the Tianguis Turístico Estafeta Pass will take place, from Mexico City to the port of Acapulco, Guerrero, the biennial venue of the event, as President Andrés Manuel López Obrador decided to continue, and where Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda will honor us with her presence.

For Wednesday 29, the delivery of the "Tourism Product Innovation Awards" to service providers from 5 states of the country is scheduled; and immediately after the press conference where the Head of Government of Mexico City and the Secretary of Tourism will announce the results of the 47th Tianguis Turístico México 2023. Likewise, there will be a meeting with the academic community of the tourism sector.

“I am convinced that this 47th edition of the Tianguis Turístico will contribute to consolidate the capital's metropolis as a destination that has everything. I congratulate and thank the Government of Mexico City for taking on this great challenge of hosting such an important and significant event," concluded Torruco Marqués.

For her part, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Head of Government of Mexico City, recognized the work of Secretary Torruco Marqués during the pandemic and the effort made to consolidate our country as a tourist destination par excellence.

He highlighted the tourist attractions of Mexico City, from its archaeological zones, to its colonial and modern-era buildings, as well as works to improve public space.

“We are taking advantage of the full potential of the Tianguis Turístico for all those national and international travel operators that will come; and we will take the Tianguis to the streets, 32 states will have a place, in such a way that the population also feels tourism and its importance, as well as the cultural recognition of the country ”he explained.

Sheinbaum Pardo assured that the economic reactivation is already a reality, and tourism has practically already closed 2022 with the levels of 2019, with very special characteristics, such as the fact that the city is no longer only a destination for business tourism, but also a cultural destination. by excellence.

“Welcome to Mexico City, the city that has it all. Congratulations and here together, between tourism businessmen, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico and Mexico City, we are going to make this Tourist Tianguis the best in history ”, he said.

On her occasion, the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, Nathalie Desplas Puel, highlighted the importance of tourism, representing 9.1% of CDMX's GDP and 18.74% of the country's GDP, in addition to 14% of employment. in Mexico City corresponds to tourism activities, which makes it the entity that contributes the most to tourism employment throughout the country.

He emphasized that the World Travel and Tourism Council recently declared the capital of the country as the eighth place in the world in terms of the most powerful cities in tourism. In addition to the above, he said that Mexico City is the first place in Latin America in tourist arrivals; the second national place in arrival of international tourists; among other indicators.
