The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, stressed that the work of incoming tour operators is a strategic key in promoting Mexico internationally.

When leading the Protest of the Board of Directors of the National Council of Tourist Services Exporters (Conexstur) for the period 2023-2025 that will be chaired by Víctor Manuel Enriquez, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) reminded the attendees that The joint work between the public and private sectors is a fundamental piece to continue detonating tourism in Mexico.

In this sense, he assured the attendees that in the Ministry of Tourism they have a great ally to continue promoting Mexican destinations in the world, for which he extended the tools that the Sectur has on the DataTur page.

Accompanied by the Secretaries of Tourism, Nathalie Desplas Puel from Mexico City; Michelle Fridman Hirsch, from Yucatan; Aurora Mancilla Castro, from San Luis Potosí; and Estrella Palacios Domínguez, from Sinaloa; He pointed out that among these tools, the platform "Regional Digitization of Tourist Vocation Places in Mexico" and the "Analysis of Income and Estimation of Lodging Tax" stand out, digital tools designed by Sectur, which are of great support for decision-making. decisions in the tourism sector.

He recognized the work carried out by Verena Knopp, outgoing president of Conexstur, who has been a great ally in continuing to consolidate Mexico as a world power in the tourism sector.

Torruco Marqués stated that after the successful participation in the 2023 International Tourism Fair, Mexico's presence will continue in the most important international tourism fairs, such as ANATO, in Bogotá, Colombia; ITB Berlin, in Germany; World Travel Market Latin America, in Sao Paulo, Brazil; FIEXPO Latin America, in Panama; International Tourism Fair, in Buenos Aires, Argentina; IMEX America, in Las Vegas, United States; and World Travel Market, in London, England, where he will meet with the main players in tourism in the world.

He presented to the members of Conexstur, the 'anchor' products in which the dependency under his charge works, with the purpose of diversifying the tourist activity, as well as increasing the per capita spending of the visitors.

Among them, he highlighted the “Museo Casa Manzanero”, in Mérida, Yucatán; the “Museum of the Mexican Hospitality”, in Orizaba, Veracruz; and the “GNP Seguros Arena”, scene of the “Mexican Tennis Open”, in Acapulco, Guerrero; among others.

In the same sense, he explained that in different destinations in Mexico, high-impact international events have been held, which have been placed in the preference of nationals and foreigners.

This year the "Wind Festival" is planned, a water sport of strength, resistance, dexterity and coordination, to be held from May 12 to 14, in Nuevo Nayarit; the second edition of the “Great Desert Race”, in Sonora, on October 14 and 15; and the second edition of "Nayarit from Heaven", an acrobatic skydiving event over the waters of Mexcaltitán, San Blas and Islas Marías, in Nayarit, from November 10 to 12.

Likewise, it is planned to carry out "Downhill" in the capital of the state of Zacatecas, to take place on November 4 and 5, and the second edition of "Mar a Mar", in Baja California Sur, on November 2 and 3. December.

The head of Sectur added that throughout 2023 the image of Mexico will be disseminated in the cities of Phoenix, Miami, Chicago and New York, in the United States, through the Operation Toca Puertas program, in order to show the world our wealth nature and culture.

Similarly, at the end of the year, a working tour of Beijing, China, will take place to create synergy with government authorities, tour operators, travel agents, airline representatives and investors, in order to encourage the arrival of a greater number of tourists from this Asian market to Mexico.

The Secretary of Tourism affirmed that "A little more than four years after the start of the present administration, led by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in the federal Ministry of Tourism we continue working so that tourism is consolidated as a "lever" of economic development and source of social welfare”.

He argued that, following this guideline, the national tourist activity showed a good performance, and a clear example of this is the income of 28 thousand 016 million dollars from international visitors, exceeding by 14% what was captured in 2019, while the expense The average number of tourists admitted by air was 1,105.7 dollars, meaning 10.4% more than in 2019.

"We are convinced that this exciting activity will continue to rise, but we also know that tourism is a sector in constant change and we must be prepared to face new challenges," he added.

Lastly, Torruco Marqués congratulated Víctor Manuel Enríquez for assuming this new responsibility in his professional life, and wished him much success for the benefit of this prestigious organization and tourism in Mexico.

For her part, Nathalie Desplas Puel, Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, congratulated the outgoing president Verena Knopp for her management, and welcomed Víctor Manuel Enriquez, thanking Conexstur for his collaboration with the public sector, as well as for his achievements and commitments for Mexico, always taking tourism to the level of excellence

He recognized that “tourism is in clear recovery and in 2023 it will be better, thanks to the collaborative work of the government and private initiative. We will celebrate the Tourist Tianguis that Mexico City already deserved, a destination where economic spillovers and hotel occupancy have multiplied."

In his opportunity, Víctor Manuel Enríquez, incoming president of Conexstur, promised that, in his management, continuity will be given to what each president incorporated at the time, always with the intention of providing more and better services to the members.
