The Uruguayan delegation is headed by the Undersecretary of Tourism, Remo Monzeglio, who highlighted that between
November 2022 and April 2023, a record was achieved in the arrival of cruise ships with a total of 204 ships between Montevideo and Punta del Este.
"These stopovers constitute the largest number of cruise ships that have arrived in Uruguay in the last 8 years and speak of the excellent services that the country provides to shipping companies," said Monzeglio.
In turn, he announced that "a large public-private delegation attends the Seatrade Cruise Global fair", which takes place from March 28 to 30 in Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center, Florida, United States.
The Ministry has attended this fair for several years with the aim of promoting the country and consolidating its port-cities; as well as increasing the number of stopovers and cruise passengers, encouraging spending and investment.
For this 2023, the participation has three main objectives, to maintain or even increase the number of ships that arrive in the next season, to look for new companies that want to know Uruguay and the offer of a new destination for the arrival of cruise ships in Uruguay: Colonia del Sacramento . The Historic Center of this city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1995.
11 members participate in the Fair in addition to the Secretary of State itself: National Ports Administration, the municipalities of Montevideo and Maldonado, Pedro Santana, Buemes DMC Uruguay, Furlong Incoming Uruguay, JR Williams, South Atlantic Ship Suppliers, Jetmar Viajes, Repremar and Carrasco Traslada.
