Brazil surpassed the mark of 1.5 million foreign tourists received in just two months of 2023. The data of 1,502,257 travelers registered with the Federal Police as tourists between January and February is the highest in the historical series that began in 2019, until then the best year, when 1,427,871 entered the country. In that period, foreign tourists left US$1.1 billion in the country, exceeding the figure for the first two months of 2020 (US$1.06 billion), when there was still no pandemic.

“Last year, the resumption of post-pandemic international tourism in Brazil was below the world average, according to data from the World Tourism Organization. The change of government was decisive in reversing this scenario at the beginning of the year. The world wants to come to Brazil because now it recognizes a people that respects democracy, has climate responsibility, fights racism, respects and values its diversity, and wants to contribute to the consolidation of this Brazil with its tourism", said the president of Embratur , Marcelo Freixo.

Freixo points out that the entry of dollars into the economy through international tourism (US$604 million in January and US$529 million in February) has helped the country to generate jobs and income. “It is the focus of our work, attracting new tourists and qualifying this tourism. Today, the luxury for European tourists is to have access to incredible, authentic experiences, they seek community tourism that allows them to live the culture of that place and connect with nature. Brazil has a potential that is still very little explored and foreign tourists are very interested in visiting us”, he added.
