The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, confirmed that the Tianguis Turístico 2023, which was held for the first time in Mexico City, fulfilled its mission of exceeding expectations, and became the most important in the history.

In a press conference, accompanied by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, Nathalie Desplas Puel, other heads of Tourism of the states and presidents of Chambers and Associations of the sector, the head of the Secretary of Tourism (Sectur) reported that the The 47th edition of the Tianguis Turístico México 2023 broke the historical record for business appointments with 88,432, this is 36% more than in the 2022 edition, when 64,950 appointments were registered.

He highlighted that 53% of these appointments ended in sales according to the information provided by those consulted.

He indicated that the number of buyers in the 2023 edition of the Tianguis Turístico México also represented another historical record with 2,338 registered delegates, this is 34 percent more than in the 2022 edition, when 1,745 buyers were registered.

In the number of companies, 1,383 were registered, which meant an increase of 32% compared to the 1,050 registered in 2022.

Torruco Marqués pointed out that for the Tianguis Turístico México 2023 in Mexico City, another historical record was broken, registering the participation of 90 nations, including Mexico. The record was held by Acapulco in its 42nd edition in 2017 with 88 countries.

He pointed out the record number of exhibitors with 4 thousand 254 delegates, reported at the March 28 cutoff. As of today, March 29, the final figure is 5,111 delegates from 1,429 companies, surpassing the record held by the previous edition in Acapulco of 3,648 exhibitors from 1,111 companies.

He pointed out that for the Tianguis Turístico México 2023, Mexico City, the preliminary volume of sales voluntarily reported by 23% of the participating companies amounts to 1,240 million pesos, that is, 87% more than the previous year.

He added that the products that were offered the most in the Tianguis Turístico México 2023 by the exhibitors were cultural tourism, 51%; nature tourism, 42%; adventure tourism, 35%; sun and beach tourism, 35%; gastronomic tourism, 32%; and business tourism, 31%.

"The above demonstrates and supports the direction of the tourism policy of the current administration focused on the integration, regionalization and diversification of a product that responds to the tastes, trends and expectations of an increasingly informed and demanding tourist, with a different profile. as a consequence of the post-pandemic” commented Torruco Marqués.

Regarding the most popular destinations among buyers, they were Cancun, with 46%; Mexico City, 41%; Rivera Maya, 39%; Los Cabos, 30%; Puerto Vallarta, 29%; Merida, 28%; Rivera Nayarit, 28%; Guadalajara, 26%; Oaxaca, 26%; and Magic Towns with 25%.

The Secretary of Tourism pointed out that, regarding the evaluation of the Tianguis Turístico México 2023 by buyers, 45.5% of the attendees qualified it as "excellent", 33.5% as "very good" and 13% as " Well".

Likewise, regarding the evaluation of the Tianguis Turístico México 2023 by the exhibitors, 55.7% of the attendees qualified it as "excellent", 27.7% as "very good" and 10% as "good".

Torruco Marqués thanked the support of the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum; the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, Nathalie Desplas; and the invaluable support of the private sector, of all the members of the Organizing Committee, and of each and every one of the people who made this 47th edition of the Tianguis Turístico possible.

He assured that the 2024 edition, with the capacity and vision of the governor, Evelyn Salgado Pineda; as well as with the support of the mayoress of Acapulco, Abelina López Rodríguez, of the secretaries of Tourism of the states and the private sector, a successful Tianguis Turístico México 2024, Acapulco will be achieved.

On her occasion, the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City, Nathalie Desplas Puel, thanked the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, for bringing the Tianguis Turístico México 2023 to Mexico City.

He asserted that, as part of the benefits that the Tianguis Turístico brought to the country's capital, a hotel occupancy of almost 70 percent was registered with the arrival of more than 150,000 tourists in the last 5 days, generating a spill of thousand 662 million pesos.

He highlighted the recognition that Mexico City deserved from Mexico Unknown Magazine as the Best World Heritage City to enjoy and live our history; as well as the special prize for crossing the doors of the Tianguis Turístico and bringing it closer to the public; and its designation, for the second consecutive year, as the Best LGBTIQ+ Urban Destination.

For his part, Juan Enrique Suárez del Real Tostado, Secretary of Tourism of Nayarit and president of the Association of Secretaries of Tourism of Mexico (Asetur), shared that this Tourist Tianguis not only broke records in terms of appointments, but also in terms of unity. .

"Today, within the framework of the Tianguis Turístico, I want to share with you that the Secretaries of Tourism reaffirm this desire that we have to work together for tourism in Mexico, hand in hand with you," assured the secretary Torruco Marqués.

He pointed out to the attendees that Asetur consolidated a very important agenda to be able, under the vision of Secretary Miguel Torruco, to structure work plans and agreements for the benefit of tourism.

For her part, Judith Guerra, president of the Mexican Group of Associations of Travel Agencies and Tourism Companies (GMA), thanked the opportunity given to travel agencies and all service providers in the tourism industry to be part of this success. and continue to promote all the products of Mexico to the world and in this way "do your bit".

When thanking the hosted buyers for their support, he stated that "records have been broken that are difficult to beat and we would really like it to be repeated and done here again, too."

On the other hand, the president of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco-Servytur), Héctor Tejada Shaar, assured that holding the Tianguis Turístico in Mexico City was a great success.

He said that from Concanaco-Servytur they are looking for all destinations in the country to have an economic benefit generated by tourism and that they can be known through their electronic platforms.

He thanked the president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco, for the opportunity to work together on the Islas Marías project.

Diana Olivares, president of the National Chamber of Air Transport (Canaero), invited the attendees to continue working to promote Mexico, and highlighted the airport infrastructure that our country has.
