Meliá Hotels International will open its first luxury hotel in Lisbon in 2024 and will do so through its most charismatic and avant-garde lifestyle brand, ME by Meliá, a collection of design hotels to discover contemporary culture that continues to expand its frontiers in the best destinations in the world.

The new ME Lisbon will be located at the corner of the central Antonio Augusto de Aguiar and Fontes Pereira de Melo avenues, next to Eduardo VII Park and Marquês de Pombal Square, a short distance from the historic center and an ideal place to explore one of the capitals most fascinating, hospitable and constantly evolving European

The hotel will be a visit destination in itself, with the eclectic and unmistakable style of the ME by Meliá brand, which stands out for offering the traveler an authentic immersion in architecture, design, gastronomy or local art through a community of artists, influencers, creatives and technologies that fill the corners of their hotels with inspiration and energy. Thus, ME Lisbon hopes to raise the luxury lifestyle proposal in Lisbon to a new level, following the success of the brand in other large cities such as London, Milan, Barcelona or Dubai.

With 213 rooms, ME Lisbon will offer the perfect combination of design, service and comfort for the modern traveler, complemented by a selection of innovative gastronomy and wellness concepts. For this, it will have an à la carte restaurant and an All Day Dining gastronomic space with international cuisine, as well as one of the unmistakable hallmarks of the brand: the Radio Rooftop Bar, a social meeting point for Lisbon residents and visitors. where you can enjoy the best atmosphere in the city and with incredible panoramic views.

Likewise, the hotel will have its own gym and an equipped spa and health club where guests will find everything they need to disconnect and immerse themselves in an experience of absolute relaxation, thanks to its indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath and massage cabins. Finally, it will also have more than 600 m2 of surface area for meetings and events, with 11 multifunctional rooms. All this makes it a true destination for leisure and business travelers.

Art and design go hand in hand in all ME by Meliá hotels, which is why the architectural proposal of the modern ME Lisbon requires special attention. Already under construction, the future hotel is the work of the Portuguese architect João Paciência and will have a recognizable semi-transparent glass façade. In addition, it will incorporate efficient and sustainable technology to minimize its environmental footprint. For example, the thermal energy resulting from the operation of the refrigeration system will be used to heat domestic hot water.

The interior design is carried out by the Broadway Malyan studio, combining creativity and sophistication and being inspired by the "unexpected" Lisbon, through a disruptive and fresh style, incorporating characteristic elements of the city itself, such as the arches or the color of the trees on Avenida da Liberdade, to create a greater sense of belonging to the place.

With this iconic hotel, owned by the Discovery Portugal Real Estate Fund, Meliá Hotels International continues to advance its growth strategy focused mainly on the premium and luxury segment. Together with ME Lisbon, the ME by Meliá brand will open at least three other hotels between 2023 and 2024 in Malaga, Malta and Guadalajara (Mexico), extending the footprint of a collection of design hotels that has managed to position itself among international luxury brands most competitive in the world.

In addition, for Meliá, which already has two establishments in Lisbon, it will not be the only opening planned in the city in 2024, as it also hopes to open its first INNSiDE by Meliá hotel. Portugal is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing markets for the company, where it currently has 7 projects under development, which will be added to the current portfolio of 9 open hotels.
