Spring in Polk County, Central Florida

Here are highlights on all there is to see and do in Florida's sweet spot.

Events:

• Easter Sunrise Service at Bok Tower Gardens: On April 9, attendees of the 97th Easter Sunrise Service have free admission between 6:00 and 8:00 am Garden Carilloner Geert D'Hollander will kick off the celebration at 6:30am with a selection of seasonal compositions played on the 60-bell carillon in the Singing Tower. The service will conclude with a half-hour concert by D'Hollander in the Singing Tower.

• Mayfaire by-the-Lake Art Festival: May 13 and 14. This fine arts festival began as a small craft show in 1971 and has grown into one of the most prestigious juried outdoor festivals in Florida. The free two-day event is held each year on Mother's Day weekend.

Ongoing events:

• Saturday night rodeos at Westgate River Ranch Resort are a longstanding tradition for many families visiting Central Florida. This award-winning rodeo features tricks, bull riding, calf roping, barrel racing and rodeo clown antics.

• Free water ski shows on the third Saturday of every month, performed at Lake Silver in Winter Haven by the world famous Cypress Gardens water ski team. The next program is on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

LEGOLAND® Florida Resort opened its newest attraction, Pirate River Quest, on January 12, 2023. Guests sail with a rowdy crew of LEGO® pirates at the Captain's bidding to explore the murky waters and recover lost treasure, stolen by a troop of mischievous monkeys.
