Uruguay is participating in WTM Latin America promoting its destinations and tourist spots, and there we had the opportunity to talk with Roque Baudean, National Director of Tourism.
How has this day been and what are the objectives of attending the event?
-Today we have come to the Well Travel Market following the promotional campaign that we are carrying out in Brazil, where we intensify promotional activities. Last year we had a much greater presence than the historical one, and this year we are going to multiply it much more. For this season that has just ended, between January and February the entry of Brazilians was 100% more than 2019 and 50% more than 2020.
What delegations are accompanying you?
-The OPC, the Punta del Este Convention Center, Montevideo and Punta del Este hoteliers, the Department of Canelones, the Montevideo Director of Tourism and the Maldonado Tourism Directorate are present or receptive operators, so here We have a very representative group from all over the country.
They have an intense promotion agenda for the country. What do you plan for the next months?
-Every month we have participation in different regional and extra-regional fairs, as well as a significant number of workshops, which we carry out together with the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism, where of course we will share successes or failures.
And what fairs are planned?
Soon we will be in Germany participating in AIMEX, in the Iguazú Falls Tourism Festival, the Book Fair in Buenos Aires at the end of April, and various events in the Brazilian northeast, for May and June. And also, FIEXPO in Panama, so a very large participation awaits us.
