The City of Buenos Aires expects more than 109 thousand tourists in Holy Week

Within the framework of the extra-long Easter weekend, the Observatory of the Tourism Entity of the city of Buenos Aires predicts that from April 6 to 9, 109,005 national and international visitors will arrive at the destination, and a hotel occupancy of 80% is expected. .

It should be remembered that the long weekend of March 24, which represents the last precedent, stood out as the best in the last 4 years, due to the fact that 107,000 visitors arrived in the City and a hotel occupancy of 75% and an average total expense of 4,750 million pesos.

In this case, with a strong Catholic connotation as the central axis of this long weekend, the Tourism Board of the City of Buenos Aires prepared an agenda full of new activities for the whole family, so that visitors can enjoy of a renewed destination focused on religious tourism, music, culture and sports.

“One of the most anticipated weekends by all is approaching and, at the same time, one of the ones that generates the most tourism. This motivates us to prepare an offer that meets all the preferences of tourists, with cultural, gastronomic, recreational and tourist activities. It is a city that has more than 7,000 bars and restaurants, 287 theaters, 380 bookstores, 150 museums and many unique attractions. Even so, we work every day to expand and renew our proposals.” highlighted Lucas Delfino, president of the Buenos Aires Tourism Entity.

One of the options that Buenos Aires offers is Música BA, an initiative of the City's Ministry of Culture that aims to promote access to culture. On this occasion, on Saturday 8 at 7:00 p.m., a day of music will be presented in the open air at the Parque Centenario Amphitheater, which will be attended by artists such as Catalina Bayá, Ine Maguire and Carolina Donati.

Likewise, within the framework of women's month, on Friday the 7th at 8:00 p.m., the Terrace of the Recoleta Cultural Center will receive the band from La Plata, Isla Mujeres, who will give a unique concert. Different pop, indie, electronic, urban sounds and rock artists will give a show to sing to a new generation.

For its part, Usina del Arte will offer a varied cultural program that includes music, workshops, visual arts and activities for the whole family. Among them, the HUMANA workshops for children, the Fashion Hackers experience for adults and the Criolla Mass by the Ribera Orchestra on Sunday stand out. For soccer lovers, the City offers the World Champions Exhibition in La Rural. An event in which the Argentine Football Association will exhibit, for the only time in Buenos Aires, an unprecedented sample, reliving the best moments of the World Championships obtained by our Selection. The exhibition is with prior registration and admission, with the possibility of going every day and at different times, subject to the availability of seats.

Regarding the offer of religious tourism, two self-guided papal tours through the neighborhoods of Flores and Monserrat stand out, which allow to know the childhood and the beginnings of Jorge Bergoglio as Archbishop of Buenos Aires. In addition, another of the proposals for the long weekend is the Great Easter Concert, an organ musical in the Metropolitan Cathedral carried out by the artist Enrique Rimoldi, and which will have the participation of the Musical Chapel of the Cathedral. The event will be on Sunday 9 at 4:30 p.m. 

Other options are the Via Crucis, organized by the Primate Cathedral of Buenos Aires, which will depart from Av. de Mayo and Irigoyen to Plaza de Mayo, and the Holy Land. The latter is an activity at Av. Costanera Rafael Obligado 5790, which includes the following programming: on Thursday, the Last Supper will be celebrated; on Friday, the living Stations of the Cross and Crucifixion (2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.); On Saturday, in addition to the Stations of the Cross, there will be a candlelight celebration with fireworks (8 pm) and on Sunday, Easter eggs will be given to children.

In turn, different plays are available such as Piaf, Freud's last session, Knock Knock, Los años, the Orquesta de la Ribera, among other shows.
