Luchatitlán, a new attractive anchor of Cancun that will increase the economic benefit

Torruco Marqués, and the governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa, led the inauguration of the Arena Cancún Luchatitlán "The house of wrestling", a new anchor attraction that enriches the tourist offer in one of the most important tourist destinations in Latin America. to increase the stay and economic income.

Accompanied by the municipal president of Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo, Ana Patricia Peralta; The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) specified that Cancun is in first place in the country in arrivals of tourists from the United States and Canada; it also occupies the first position in reception of tourists by air; and it ranks second in hotel infrastructure.

“Luchatitlán adds to the existing attractions of this beautiful destination, so that visitors can witness the magic and traditions that surround Mexican Wrestling. It is a magnificent setting to provide new emotions, ”he asserted.

He indicated that this new anchor product is a long-awaited project come true thanks to the effort and vision of the companies Lucha Libre AAA World Wide, Fibra Uno and Ventura Entertainment.

He stressed that this sport began in the mid-19th century and in the mid-20th century it became legendary when the fighting moved from the arena to movie screens, with idols such as El Santo, Blue Demon, Mil Máscaras or Huracán Ramírez, to name a few. ; and he pointed out that today it enjoys great popularity worldwide, and is a travel motivator for foreign tourists in Mexico.

Torruco Marqués highlighted that, in 2018, Lucha Libre was declared by the government of the country's capital, as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mexico City, and on September 12, 2019, by decree of the Congress of the Union, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, establishes September 21 as the National Day of Lucha Libre and the Mexican Professional Wrestler.

He stressed that this sports fair that was revitalized when the company created in 1992 by Don Antonio Peña, Lucha Libre AAA, incorporated new concepts, “today it has taken a step forward by offering in a single venue, an arena where modern gladiators compete; spaces for people to enjoy Mexican gastronomy; and shops for visitors to buy masks, capes, or some other souvenir. In Luchatitlán, sports and entertainment will become an experience of sound, light and color”, he commented.

The Secretary of Tourism emphasized that, in turn, it is another anchor product, created in the current administration, headed by the president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, with the purpose of opening the range of tourist options in destinations and encouraging travel national and international tourists.

He mentioned examples such as the GNP Seguros Arena, in Acapulco, Guerrero, home of the Mexican Tennis Open; the Museum of Mexican Hospitality, in Orizaba, Veracruz; or La Chinesca, in Mexicali, Baja California; and on May 15, the Gran Acuario Mazatlán Mar de Cortés, in Sinaloa, will be inaugurated, which will be the largest in Latin America.

"In the Secretariat under my charge, we will continue to support projects that favor tourism, especially with regard to foreign exchange, whose increase is one of our main objectives," concluded the secretary.

For her part, the governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa, assured that Cancun, a destination that recently celebrated its 53 years, “has a lot to offer and today, Luchatitlán is another reason to come to enjoy and have a good time; to have a great experience, which would be impossible without the support of the authorities of the three levels of government and the business sector such as Fibra Uno and Lucha Libre AAA who bet on this, putting creativity, imagination and investment”.

He emphasized the importance of believing, job creation, promotion, and the businessmen and investors whom he thanked for having chosen Cancun for this project, assuring that it is the best destination to have done so.

At the time, Gonzalo Robina, Fibra Uno's deputy general director, affirmed that Lucha Libre AAA and Ventura Entertainment provided the confidence to decide on this project, in this destination. "I am firmly convinced that it will be a complete success."

Also present at the event were Marisela Peña Herrada, president of Lucha Libre AAA World Wide; Dorian Roldán Peña, CEO of Lucha Libre AAA World Wide; Guido Benassini, CEO Ventura Entertainment, among other special guests.
