The productive credit promoted by BanEcuador and the Ministry of Tourism, and directed to the tourism industry, reached 62 beneficiaries between February and April 2023, with the placement of 1.1 million dollars, in 17 provinces of the country. This modality of microcredit is granted at a preferential rate of 5%, for amounts from 5,001 to 20,000 dollars, up to a 10-year term.

One of the beneficiaries received his credit for 10,000 dollars in the province of Santa Elena on April 28 for the readjustment of his means of tourist transport that suffered breakdowns. The service provider thanked the direct assistance he received to apply from technicians from the Ministry of Tourism and BanEcuador.

The funds can be used for working capital (payment to suppliers, inventory, everything that finances the daily operation of the establishment), or for productive investment such as the acquisition of machinery, equipment, readjustment, remodeling of infrastructure or expansion of the business.

To apply, it is important to have the tourism registry and that sales in the last year have been between 20,000 and 100,000 dollars, in addition to the presentation of the citizenship card, ballot paper and other documents requested by BanEcuador. Guarantees will also be requested according to the required amount.

The National Government continues to promote the tourism industry with financial relief actions that allow progress in the economic reactivation of the sector.
