Grupo Piñero launches its Eco-Bahía Foundation in the Dominican Republic. Created in 1999 in Mexico, its objective is to carry out projects for the conservation, maintenance and improvement of natural resources, as well as to create awareness of the importance of the environment. To this end, it has programs for the recovery and management of fauna, promotion of native and endemic flora, conservation of marine resources, protection of coral reefs, and maintenance of protected areas. In terms of awareness, the foundation's activity has evolved towards educational actions and environmental awareness with local communities, schools, collaborators, clients and owners of tourist and residential developments.

These projects will now be replicated in the Dominican Republic. Specifically, the Foundation is already beginning to work on the restoration of the Punta Balandra whale lookout together with the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources and on the delivery of containers for waste separation in schools of the Samaná Biodiverso project. Likewise, among its objectives for 2023, the inauguration of composting centers in various locations and cooperation agreements to promote its environmental education initiative and the start of the ecosystem restoration program stand out.

In the words of the Chief Sustainability Officer of Grupo Piñero, Isabel Piñero: “The arrival of the Eco-Bahia Foundation in the Dominican Republic demonstrates our commitment to offer a regenerative tourism model based on responsibility and sustainability. The Grupo Piñero resorts in the Dominican Republic are located in a large area of natural capital with a great diversity of flora and fauna that, with the work of the Foundation, will be protected and preserved.
