The investment for the new Brazilian Club Med will enter into the group's plans as of 2025, but its managers are already looking for a suitable location, its main executive reported during a visit to Rio de Janeiro.

In parallel, the chain of French origin is carrying out a process of improvement and modernization in its Brazilian subsidiaries. During the pandemic (2020-2021) it invested some 11 million dollars to revitalize its resort in Trancoso (Bahía), a state that brings together some twenty of the best resorts in the country in destinations such as Porto Seguro, Trancoso, the island of Comandatuba, Itacaré , Salvador and Praia do Forte.

The all-inclusive Club Med Rio das Pedras (Rio de Janeiro) will also undergo a similar renovation starting this year, as will the lesser known to the foreign public, Club Med in Mogi das Cruzes, in the state of Saint Paul. The latter -according to Giscard D'Estaing- will become the headquarters of a new business niche: wedding and honeymoon tourism. Located on a large piece of land with a golf course on the edge of an artificial lake, less than two hours from the capital of São Paulo, the complex has specialized since 2021 in organizing weddings together with a local partner.

The French resort chain, controlled by the Chinese fund Fosun, has 70 facilities worldwide and will add 17 more in the next two years.

Club Med was founded in the 1940s as a camping destination and pioneered the all-inclusive concept, with drinks included in the daily rate. Since it was acquired by the Chinese in 2015, the chain has modernized, targeting higher-income tourists, with exclusive areas within the resorts. It also ceased to be an exclusively summer destination, after the opening of mountain resorts with ski slopes in the Alps, in France, Switzerland and Italy.
