Chile seeks to consolidate its category of leader in the South American continent and hopes to reach first place in the category of Best Adventure Tourism Destination in South America. In addition, it will seek to revalidate its titles of Best Romantic Destination for the Atacama Desert and Best Destination in South America, as well as obtain the award in fourteen other categories at the World Travel Awards.

Since 1993, these international awards have recognized excellence in all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. In the first instance, continental ceremonies are held that later lead to the world award ceremony, in which Chile already has a long history.

The Undersecretary of Tourism, Verónica Pardo, highlighted the importance of these nominations because “they are a recognition of each territory and the people who make it an outstanding destination. Each entrepreneur who works for Chilean tourism seeks to make their locality the best experience and, if this is accompanied by an award at the South American and world level, as it has been on other occasions, even better. Those of us who live in Chile must be proud to be the first ambassadors of our country, which, without a doubt, we can achieve with the World Travel Awards”.

To amplify the call to choose national tourist experiences, the Undersecretary of Tourism and Sernatur are launching the #VotaPorChile campaign, with which Chilean men and women will be able to ensure that the country maintains leadership in regional tourism.

For the national director of Sernatur, Cristóbal Benítez, "to be nominated again and have chances to win the awards again in experiences that are highly valued by tourists and professionals in this industry is a showcase that contributes to publicizing the diversity that characterizes us as a country. We want to count on your support and put Chile on the map, so that more tourists visit us and that the economic benefit reaches the communities and towns that receive them”.
