A survey published by Travel Tech reveals the most sought-after cities for accommodation in the first four months of the year and points to the exponential growth of the sector in 2023

According to a survey carried out by the platform, among the 10 most popular destinations popular, they highlight beaches and resorts. This is the case of Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Porto Seguro (BA), Maceió (AL), Natal (RN), Ipojuca (PE), Fortaleza (CE) and Florianópolis (SC). The data also reveals heating in the sector, with seven times more reservations in the period compared to the previous year.

In addition to the beaches, the resorts are some of the highlights of these mentioned destinations and, together with the extraordinary landscapes, provide a lot of infrastructure and comfort with swimming pools, leisure area, SPA, unlimited food and drinks, among other services. Some consolidated tourist destinations also entered the top 10, such as São Paulo (SP), Gramado (RS) and Foz do Iguaçu (PR).

The Maxmilhas survey reveals the preference for beaches in the first four months of the year and consolidates the Northeast as the region most sought after by Brazilian travelers in the period. It also indicates that domestic trips are not focused only on large capitals, since Porto Seguro (BA), Gramado (RS), Ipojuca (PE) and Foz do Iguaçu (PR) appear on the list.

After a long period of uncertainty due to the crisis caused by Covid-19, the hotel industry has once again achieved important results. In Maxmilhas, the growth in the number of reservations in the first months of the year was 752% compared to 2022.

The positive result is also seen all over the world. April marked the full recovery of travel since the pandemic according to the Skift Travel Health Index, a tool developed by Skift Research to track the performance of the travel industry and using 84 travel indicators with data from 22 partners. The global index is currently at 101, 2 percentage points above the previous month and above the last level reached in 2019.
