In a press conference, Jesús Almaguer-President of the Association of Hotels of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres (AHCPMIM), presented the Communication Plan "Sustainable Hospitality", with the aim of increasing the positioning and reputation of the Association, Associated Hotels and Allied Members; through the promotion and dissemination of certifications, recognitions and sustainable practices, to be recognized as leaders in sustainability of the tourism sector in Mexico, for the benefit of employees, the community, the environment and visitors to the destination.
The plan, which follows the bases of the 2030 agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Organization and the Sustainable Tourism Strategy of the Ministry of Tourism of Mexico, highlights the 3 lines of communication of sustainability: #SociallyInclusive , #EconomicallyFair and #EnvironmentallyResponsible.
The strategy, which was developed in conjunction with the public relations agency I Love Mexico Travel, consists of several stages. The first is to carry out a census to identify and collect all the information on the Social Responsibility and Sustainability actions of the affiliated hotels, allied members, of the Association itself, as well as the destinations in the Mexican Caribbean where it is present: Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres-Costa Mujeres.
Another of the activities included in the plan is the creation of content that includes the production of videos, publications on social networks and alliances with the media, as well as a section dedicated exclusively to these topics within the new web page that is being launched. in conjunction with this plan, hand in hand with the digital marketing agency Band of Designers. The address of the new website is: https://www.ahcancun.com/
"The launch of this communication plan is a collaborative effort that responds mainly to the benefit of society, the ecology and the economy of the destination by communicating first-hand the benefits of sustainable tourism and hospitality, since we also see it as a world trend of travelers that we know, choose the destinations to travel to and return in relation to their sustainable practices over those who do not ", mentioned Jesús Almaguer, President of the AHCPMIM.
"The hotels and companies that are part of the Association will also benefit from events, alliances with leading sustainability organizations and training workshops for their collaborators and thus continue permeating awareness and commitment to sustainable practices," added Eduardo Domínguez, Vice President Executive of the AHCPMIM.
During the development of the plan, results are expected, such as an increase in the participation and commitment of the local community in sustainability projects, as well as an improvement in environmental indicators (reduction in water and energy consumption, reduction in solid waste generated by the hotels members of the Association and the increase or, where appropriate, adoption of biodiversity conservation practices in the destination.
