Tierra del Fuego prepares for the National Winter Festival

The President of the Fuegian Institute of Tourism, Dante Querciali, highlighted that the tourism sector is already ready to receive a large number of visitors during this winter season, with the arrival of national and international travelers to which is added the internal tourist movement .

In addition, together with Cerro Castor and Fueguina Public TV, with the support of municipalities and private providers, they are organizing the first National Winter Festival to be held on July 8 and 9.

The traditional event will take place on Saturday, July 8, with activities for the whole family, in a day of fun and excitement crowned with the descent of torches at Cerro Castor, with activities that will continue on Sunday, July 9, at Cerro Castor.

“This Fuegian tradition was growing and this year it was declared of national interest by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, which gives it a special distinction by inviting tourists and residents to experience a party within the framework of the opening of the winter season. at the End of the World”, expressed Querciali.

Around the start of the season, the President of INFUETUR stated that "we have good expectations for this winter, with a large influx of visitors from other countries, especially Brazilians who come to enjoy the snow and the many activities offered by the snow centers. mountain, agencies, operators and tourism providers. We also have quality hotel and gastronomy services that exalt the destination, providing a very good stay to the people who choose our destination. Both the private and public sectors are preparing to once again have a great winter season as we have been holding since the reactivation after the pandemic”.

Together, he highlighted the importance of having another National Holiday "that has been declared of national interest, an event that has been in our province for many years, gives us a great boost as a snow destination, and encourages visitors to consult and plan their trip based on that party, and obviously to be able to enjoy the rest of the services offered by the End of the World, but the fact that they want to be present at this event is extremely important."

News at Cerro Castor

Within this framework, the southernmost ski center in the world presented its innovations, with new facilities and the actions it plans for the 2023 winter season. The person in charge of Cerro Castor, Juan Carlos Begué, indicated "this year we have made a new meeting room pumping, going from having two pumps to six, which greatly improves the snow production capacity. Today Cerro Castor is the ski resort that can cover the largest area with an artificial snow system in South America."

Among other novelties, he indicated that "we have a new ski slope, and at the base a stage with audio and lighting to be able to perform shows." In addition, he announced that the projects for 2024 are to have a quadruple chair and expand the restaurant Old Beaver."
