According to the Cirium ranking of May, Avianca was recognized as the most punctual global airline in the world, with more than 17,900 flights operated in May 2023 and an OTP (On Time Performance) indicator of 89.51%.
This is the result of a rigorous analysis process, led by Cirium, the largest global aviation data firm, which includes factors such as flight compliance -scheduled flights over operated flights-, as well as takeoffs and landings to time.
So far in 2023, Avianca has remained within the Top 5 most punctual airlines, occupying fourth place in February, second place in March and first place in May.
“We are the most punctual airline in the world and without a doubt this milestone is the result of the commitment of 12,000 people who will continue to give everything to fulfill our clients' needs so that they arrive safely, on time, and with their bags at their destination. The pandemic certainly brought many challenges, but it also gave us the opportunity to adjust our processes and reach this important milestone. Today we reaffirm our commitment to connect the regions of Colombia and the world through the improvement of our services and the efficiency of our processes”, said Frederico Pedreira, Chief Operations Officer of Avianca.
About Cirium: Cirium's data system has a network of more than 600 sources that provide information in real time. In order to offer an impartial analysis, Cirium's data analysts are part of a group totally independent from the aviation industry, ensuring the accuracy of results to accurately establish the collection and delivery of data. The report is based on three main factors: punctuality indicators, operational complexity and the airline's ability to reduce the impact of adjustments on its passengers' flights. The analysis to determine the punctuality indicators is based on the arrival time of the flight at the boarding gate, within 15 minutes after the previously scheduled time.
