During the current administration of Yucatan by Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal, hard work has been done through strategies and actions that lead the State to position itself as one of the best destinations in Mexico for the attraction and generation of visitors globally.
Due to the above, from the Secretariat of Tourism Promotion of Yucatán (Sefotur), a series of actions have been worked on that have resulted in the increase and improvement of the tourist offer of the entity in terms of services, products and Magical Towns, taking As a consequence, in 2020 Maní and Sisal will join Valladolid and Izamal as part of the Magic Towns of the destination.
Today, Yucatán adds Espita, Motul and Tekax to its offer of Magical Towns, thus having seven appointments for the state, being the Ministry of Tourism of Mexico who announced the new additions to the list of Magical Towns, recognizing a total of 177 destinations with this distinction.
It is worth remembering that, since the announcement of Maní and Sisal as new Magical Towns of Yucatán, they have benefited from the increase in visitors who want to know the natural, historical and gastronomic beauties that belong to them, in addition to having the support granted by the State Government through Sefotur, contributing to the improvement of infrastructure and development, which allows a better reception for visitors and thus be able to place itself among their favorites.
A clear example of these benefits can be found in the intervention on Avenida 16 de septiembre and the restoration of the Monífato de Sisal sculpture; In addition to the fact that as of 2020, with the appointment as a Magical Town, six new tourist projects were registered with an amount of 363 million pesos, in which tourist complexes, lodgings and Beach Club stand out.
For its part, in Maní the intervention of the work was carried out in the Central Park, south of the Convent of San Miguel de Arcángel and received the award as "Best Tourism Villages" by the World Tourism Organization in 2021. According To data from 2019 compared to 2022, Maní, presented considerable growth, offering tourists nine restaurants; two hotels; eight cafeterias, three meliponarios and four new tourist activities, which did not exist prior to his appointment.
The appointment of Pueblo Mágico has promoted development in tourism, contributing to the growth of named municipalities and towns, activating the local economy, creating processes of inclusion and wealth distribution without losing the preservation of its tangible and intangible heritage resources, to the improvement in infrastructure and services, the generation of jobs and the creation of small and medium-sized companies; In addition, it has managed, in some cases, to reduce the migration of the population, due to the reactivation of productive activities in each locality.
In the state of Yucatán, the objective is to promote a social approach and respect for human rights in tourism, for the well-being of the people who live and work in the Magical Towns. This contains as strategic lines to develop public policies that contribute to tourism with a social and inclusive approach; promote accessible tourism to contribute to the well-being of the vulnerable population; promote intersectoral coordination for the well-being of the Magical Towns; and, promote coordination with the public and social sectors in terms of security and comprehensive protection for tourists.
