Volaris, the ultra-low-cost Mexican airline that operates in Mexico, the United States, Central and South America, opened two new routes that will connect Guadalajara, Jalisco, with Villahermosa, Tabasco, and Monterrey, Nuevo León, with Mexicali, Baja California, to starting September 22 and October 1, respectively.

With these new openings, Volaris reinforces its position as the largest airline in Mexico in terms of passengers carried, by offering more than 240 routes with a daily average of 573 operations in 43 national and 28 international destinations in the United States, Central and South America.

“We are very happy to announce two new routes, in addition to the 40 that we announced a few weeks ago and with which we want to increase connectivity in two of our most important hubs, Guadalajara and Monterrey, with cities that have the potential to further consolidate our presence throughout the country”, mentioned Omar Carrera, commercial director of Volaris.

Guadalajara is the most visited destination in the state. According to the Jalisco Secretariat (Secturjal) in the first five months of the year, 7 million 39 thousand national and international tourists arrived in this city; that is, half of the total number of visitors who arrived at the entity in the same period. For its part, in Tabasco national tourism constitutes the main segment of the market and in the coming months it will become an even more attractive destination due to land connectivity plans through the Mayan Train.

For its part, Monterrey is listed as one of the most important business centers in the country. Until April 2023, the capital airport had operated 33,156 flights, according to figures from the Centro-Norte Airport Group (OMA) and only in April 1,075,584 passengers arrived at that terminal.

Among other things, Mexicali has positioned itself as a destination with an attractive cultural offer for those looking for museums and historic neighborhoods, as well as a very important commercial bridge between California and the border city.
