Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the innovative global cruise company, has announced that Norwegian Joy will undergo major renovations in January 2024 to offer guests a more complete onboard experience, including a new Thermal Suite at Mandara Spa and Salon, expanded Vibe Beach Club, 64 new rooms, redesigned The Haven Premier Owner Suites and much more.
When Norwegian Joy completes her three-week dry dock period from January 22, 2024 to February 12, 2024, guests will have access to an enhanced onboard spa experience with a new Thermal Suite, soon to be the largest of any Breakaway-Plus class cruise ship. Designed with NCL guest feedback in mind, the first Spa Suite will feature a more centralized layout and an unparalleled welcome experience, with graceful sculptures and a waterfall-lined foyer. A separate lounge area will feature triple the number of heated loungers and guests will enjoy easy access to relaxing and revitalizing experiences, including a sauna, ice room and aroma steam room. Other innovative offerings include a new biostation with intravenous drip therapy, an increasingly popular rejuvenating treatment that delivers essential nutrients to the body; four-way loungers for the ultimate sensory experience for deep relaxation; and Kneipp Haptic Foot Therapy, which massages feet as guests walk through a footbath that alternates between warm and cold zones. The new Thermal Suite will replace the Galaxy Pavilion, the cruise's virtual reality complex. that massages the feet while guests walk through a footbath that alternates cold and warm zones. "We strive to deliver exceptional experiences across our entire fleet," said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. "We've listened to our guests and acted on it. With this renovation we're enhancing the quality of the guest experience aboard Norwegian Joy, adding some of our cruises' most popular spaces and offerings. Guests will have a greater variety of rooms to choose from and a world-class, full-service spa to spend their days at sea fully immersed and relaxed."
As part of the company's efforts to continue to offer guests a greater variety of accommodation options, the redesign will include repurposing a portion of the Observation Lounge to create 24 new balcony rooms, as well as 40 new spa balcony staterooms, which will include direct access to the Mandara Spa and Thermal Suite. Additionally, as a result of unprecedented demand, Norwegian Joy's The Haven by Norwegian® Premier Owner's Suites with Grand Balcony will be expanded to three bedrooms. The two suites will include three rooms; three full bathrooms and a toilet; fully renovated lounges, main bedrooms and outdoor balcony furniture; as well as a new separate dining room with views of The Haven Horizon Lounge, located forward.
In addition, the ever-popular and often sold-out adult-only Vibe Beach Club will be expanded to occupy the existing Laser Tag Arena on deck 20. The space will feature a layout similar to the Vibe Beach Club on Norwegian Encore and Norwegian Bliss, with new luxurious private cabanas.
Norwegian Joy will resume her voyages after her dry-dock period on February 13, 2024, when she embarks on an 11-day transatlantic voyage from Southampton, UK, to Miami. In March 2024, the ship will make seven-day roundtrip voyages to the Caribbean from Miami before setting sail for Bermuda from New York in summer 2024.
