Iberia, Qatar Airways and British Airways join forces. Qatar Airways and British Airways already operate the largest airline joint business agreement in the world, spanning more than 60 countries, and since this July, Iberia has joined them to improve the connectivity that the three companies offer their customers.
As a result of its integration into this joint business agreement, on December 11 Iberia will start operating a new daily flight from Madrid to Hamad International Airport in Doha (considered the Best Airport in the Middle East by Skytrax for the ninth consecutive year).
This will mean for customers to be able to connect with more than 200 destinations through the three global airlines. Iberia and Qatar Airways will jointly offer three daily frequencies between Madrid and Doha, significantly improving connectivity between the Iberian Peninsula and the main markets in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.
Iberia will operate this route with Airbus A330-200 aircraft, with 288 seats in Business and Tourist cabins. The incorporation of Iberia into this alliance expands the options for customers with an extensive network of destinations, flight schedules and fares; highly efficient connectivity through Doha, London and Madrid, and the comfort of business cabins that have market recognition such as the Qsuite from Qatar Airways, the Club Suite from British Airways, and the Business class from Iberia.
Whether for leisure or business, travelers from Spain and Portugal will now be able to connect with a wide network of new and attractive destinations. Relaxing in the Maldives and Seychelles, venturing to Tanzania and Nepal, enjoying cultural holidays in India and Oman, shopping in Singapore and Thailand, or visiting friends and family in Australia and Hong Kong will now make travel more affordable. and with more flight options.
Customers in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia will also have more opportunities to fly to Madrid, Lisbon, Ibiza, Malaga, Gran Canaria and dozens of other destinations in Spain and Portugal.
Another of the most relevant benefits of the extension of this joint business agreement is that customers of the loyalty programs of the three airlines -British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus and Qatar Airways Privilege Club- will be able to accumulate and redeem on their trips Avios, the common currency for the three airlines. Customers will be able to transfer Avios between accounts and combine their balances to take advantage of the benefits offered by each programme.
