Volaris, the ultra-low-cost airline that operates in Mexico, the United States, Central and South America, presents its 2022 Integrated Annual Report, which highlights its financial results and progress and goals in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) matters. , which have allowed it to consolidate itself as the largest national airline in terms of passengers carried and one of the largest Latin American operators in the US market.

Despite a challenging economic, regulatory and political climate, Volaris managed to position itself and dominate the national market and grow in the US, where, despite the limitations due to Category 2, it increased its capacity to the United States by 15% compared to 2021. Part of this success was due to Volaris's commitment to increasingly sustainable operations, through effective management of its ESG priorities.

“In 2022, we transport more than 31 million passengers through 197 routes. Additionally, we drove our total operating revenue to a new high of more than $2.8 billion, up 29% from 2021. This growth was driven by carefully managed expansion of our network, coupled with first-time passengers and the regular customers we help unite with friends and family safely, quickly and affordably on every flight,” said Enrique Beltranena, Volaris CEO and CEO.

The challenge of climate change continues to be a priority issue for the industry. Aware of this, during 2021, Volaris set an ambitious goal to reduce its carbon emissions, promoting measures that would have a positive impact, both for the Company and for the environment. The closing of a financing agreement for the acquisition of eco-efficient aircraft stands out - an operation awarded with the Best Aircraft Trade Finance Deal 2022by the Global Trade Review (GTR)- and the incorporation of 16 new NEO aircraft, the most efficient in terms of fuel use, with which its fleet reached 54% of this type of aircraft by the end of 2022. It also signed a investment agreement in a US startup for the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). In 2022, Volaris managed to reduce its CO2 emissions (gCO2/RPK) by 15.7% vs. 2015.

Regarding social performance, in 2022, Volaris continued to support and promote the economic development and democratization of air transport in the communities where it operates. During the year, it created 1,675 new jobs and approximately 4% of its surveyed customers reported getting on the plane for the first time.

In addition, a fundamental part of Volaris' success is focused on promoting an inclusive work environment that offers professional growth opportunities for all Ambassadors, which is why the airline has joined commitments that promote diversity. Since 2021, Volaris has been part of the IATA 25by2025 initiative, which encourages a greater participation of women in leadership positions and in underrepresented areas, such as pilots, technical personnel and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), to achieve a 25% in 2025. Thanks to very specific actions to reach that goal, by the end of 2022, Volaris increased the number of women in leadership positions by 18% and by 11% in underrepresented areas.

Likewise, through the Ayuda Volaris Plane program, the airline transported more than five tons of humanitarian cargo at no cost, such as food, personal hygiene items and rainwater harvesting systems, to Mexican communities in emergency situations; to more than 150 volunteers, and more than 125 organs and tissues for transplants in collaboration with the National Transplant Center (CENATRA).

Regarding the governance performance of Volaris, it is worth noting that its Board of Directors has 14% of women directors in 2022, positioning the Company above the average of companies listed on the BMV.

These efforts have earned the Company recognition from prestigious institutions. In 2022, Volaris was distinguished as the Latin American airline of the year in environmental sustainability, by CAPA and as one of the 20 safest low-cost airlines in the world by AirlineRatings.com, being the only Latin American airline to appear on this list. Both recognitions are a significant achievement and a testament to the priority that Volaris places on operational safety and guaranteeing the trust of its passengers.

In addition, in 2022, the airline was included for the third consecutive year in the Dow Jones Pacific Alliance MILA Sustainability Index. For the second consecutive year, it was part of the S&P/BMV Total Mexico ESG Index, and was included in the FTSE4Good Index for the first time, placing the Company on the list of sustainable equity investment candidates worldwide.

“Underpinned by our ESG efforts, Volaris continues on the right path to profitable and sustainable growth in the ultra-low-cost market. By 2025, we aspire to achieve our "trifecta" of doubling our revenues, EBITDAR and free cash flow compared to pre-pandemic levels", concluded Enrique Beltranena .
