The Iberia Group continues to expand its network of international connections, and thanks to the new route launched between Madrid and Cairo for the upcoming winter season, Latin American customers will be able to connect their flights with the Egyptian capital from the 18 destinations in 16 countries that the airline operates in that region.
Specifically, this new route, which will be operated by Iberia Express, will open on October 30, one day after the start of the winter season, and will have three return flights a week, every Monday, Thursday and saturdays.
The departure times of these direct flights are, from the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, at 4:35 p.m., with a duration of 4 hours and 50 minutes, while the return from the Cairo International Airport will be at 10:25 p.m., with an approximate duration of five and a quarter hours.
The airline will operate the route with the new A321 NEO aircraft, the most modern and efficient aircraft in the Airbus short- and medium-haul fleet. This model has engines that consume 18% less fuel, compared to the A321 Ceo model. In addition, they allow a greater passenger capacity and contribute to mitigating emissions. The new aircraft have 6% more capacity than the previous model, and reduce noise levels by 50%, improving passenger comfort and, ultimately, making the trip more sustainable.
Connections between Latin America and Africa
This new route also expands the variety of options available to Iberia customers in Latin America to connect their flights, with a stopover in Madrid, to other destinations.
It is worth mentioning that, in Africa, in addition to this new route with Cairo, the Iberia Group has flights to Morocco: in the winter season Marrakech will have an increase of four frequencies up to a total of 14 per week, and Casablanca will have until 11 weekly. Similarly, Tangier will have a daily flight.
Iberia also operates 10 weekly frequencies with Dakar, the capital of Senegal, while it has two to Algiers, the capital of Algeria.
In the southern winter season -from the end of October to the end of March-, Iberia will exceed 300 weekly flights between Latin America and Spain, which is 14% more than the figures it had before the pandemic.
