Goiás municipalities want to promote religious and cultural tourism abroad

The president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, met this Monday (14) with the mayor of Trindade, Marden Junior, and with the Secretary of Tourism of the City of Goiás, Suzana Magalhães, in Brasilia (DF). On the agenda, cultural and religious tourism present in the two municipalities of Goiás and how to promote the region's tourist attractions abroad.

“Religious tourism has a very strong international appeal. And it is in the interest of President Lula and Embratur to join this campaign to promote the segment in Brazil”, said Freixo.  

The mayor of Trindade highlighted the Festa do Divino Pai Eterno, which takes place every year in the months of June and July and attracts thousands of tourists and faithful to the city. The festival is considered the second largest religious event in Brazil.

“We come here to present a Trinity that receives three and a half million people in just 10 days, every year. In addition, we are also consolidating continuous tourism in the city, including foreigners," Marden said.

The secretary of the City of Goiás also pointed out that the region has cultural experiences that could be promoted abroad, such as the Camino de Cora Coralina. “We have to show the cultural Brazil, the Brazil of world heritage, as is the case of Cidade de Goiás, and that Brazil be disclosed as an international destination”, said Suzana.

For President Marcelo Freixo, it is possible to map the main tourist-sending countries that, when traveling, seek destinations linked to culture and religion.

“We have a Data Intelligence Management precisely to better qualify the information of tourists who visit Brazil. There are source markets that are compatible with certain tourist destinations and experiences, and this can be applied to religious and cultural tourism. Yes, we can work together”, affirmed Freixo.

The agenda was also attended by Elias Vaz, current Secretary of Legislative Affairs of the Ministry of Justice.
