ANATO, according to the most recent figures from the Civil Aeronautics, calculates that, in Colombia, during the first half of the year, 8,752,272 passengers were mobilized on international flights, which corresponded to a growth of 27% when compared to the same period of 2022, that is to say that, faced with the situation of the air sector, it becomes a landmark in passenger traffic.

“International air connectivity is one of the most important pillars for the country's tourism evolution and Colombia is one of the countries that is reporting the best international performance in this area. This, taking into account that compared to 2019, during the first six months of the year, the growth was 25%”, explained Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.

The foregoing greatly highlights the country, since according to the most recent IATA report, international air traffic in the world has not recovered pre-pandemic levels, still being 16% below. In fact, Latin America presents a reduction of 12%, compared to 2019, which means that Colombia not only recovered its international traffic, but it is growing at a good pace.

This good moment is expected to continue, since only in July international connectivity in Colombia increased by 5% compared to the same month of 2022, thanks to the fact that the country currently has a direct connection with 26 countries, from 11 cities. , through 26 airlines.

"This diversification in the offer will allow a greater movement of passengers to be generated in the coming months, for this reason we must continue working so that more airlines arrive in our country and connect more regions," said the union leader.
