The entry of foreign currency, foreign investment, promotion of the regions and generation of strategies to strengthen the competitiveness of businessmen in the sector, have made possible the good moment that international tourism is going through in our country.
During the mid-year season, 770,101 foreign visitors arrived in the country, that is, 25% more than in the same period of 2022, according to ANATO calculations, based on data from Colombia Migration.
"The positive behavior of incoming tourism has been representative, and it was seen during the mid-year holiday season, demonstrating how little by little, despite the circumstances, the dynamics of the sector continues to emerge," said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATUS.
Regarding the arrival of foreigners for reasons of tourism, events and business, the countries of nationality that grew the most were: Ecuador with an increase of 85%; Costa Rica, with 76%; Brazil, with 64%; Dominican Republic, with 60%; and Guatemala, with 41%.
Between Bogotá, Antioquia, Bolívar, Valle del Cauca, Atlántico and San Andrés concentrated 90% of the total arrivals of foreigners for tourism, events and business reasons.
“Security must be a priority for businessmen and the National Government to work closely. We cannot allow the progress we have made to be lost and the international traveler to perceive Colombia as an unsafe place,” said the union leader.
