The president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, was in Ceará this week, on the 17th and 18th of August, to reaffirm partnerships for promoting and strengthening tourism in the state and municipality. In addition to visiting important tourist attractions in the capital Fortaleza, Freixo visited the municipalities of Ubajara, Preá and Cumbuco.

He also met with the governor of Ceará, Elmano de Freitas; with the mayor of Fortaleza, José Santo; with the Municipal Secretary of Tourism, Alexandre Pereira; representatives of the Ceará tourist trade and with the regional directory of the Workers' Party (PT/CE).

After conversations with the trade, city hall, governments and public and private bodies, the president of Embratur stated that Ceará is ready for international tourism.

“We saw all the potential of Kitesurf, this relationship with the sport and the reception of a very strong foreign tourism. The experience of visiting the cave, the cable car, an extraordinary park coordinated by ICMBio is incredible. So, it is proven that Ceará is not just sun and beach tourism, Ceará is a very important place for us to be able to promote in this heart of the Northeast. I am sure that we can, more and more, bring foreign tourists, generating jobs and income for the state. Ceará is definitely on the international tourism shelf”, he pointed out.

Marcelo Freixo also highlighted that Ceará has great potential for experience tourism – a great attraction for foreign tourists. “I understood the diversity of the state, and Embratur wants to partner with initiatives that already exist in Ceará and ensure that tourism continues to provide socioeconomic development. We know that international tourists are very much looking for experience tourism, gastronomy, culture, and Ceará, as a whole, together with the capital Fortaleza, are very strong in this. Our goal is to think about how we can keep tourists in these destinations for longer”, he revealed.

The president of Embratur also visited, this Friday (18), the Events Center of Ceará accompanied by the secretaries of Tourism, Yrwana Albuquerque; of Culture, Luísa Cela, and of Environment and Climate Change, Vilma Freire. “We have a very large demand for international tourists in this region. But we can go further, which is why we had the president of Embratur visiting the region to plan actions that will boost visitor numbers”, highlighted Yrwana Albuquerque.

According to the president of Embratur, tourism is the great economic activity of the 21st century and, today, it already accounts for 8% of the Brazilian GDP. In the state, Embratur promotes a press trip at the 31st edition of the Rally dos Sertões, which, this year, has as its motto “Our stage is Brazil”. In the eight stages of the 2023 Rally dos Sertões, which will continue until August 19, the pilots and navigators will pass through the cities of Petrolina (PE), Xique-Xique (BA), Crato (CE), Sobral (CE), Cruz (CE) and Preá (CE), in the last stage of the competition.
