The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) indicated that, so far, the participation of 136 Magical Towns from 24 states of the Republic has been confirmed in person, as well as Magical Neighborhoods, artisans, traditional cooks and chefs in three days of party where the magic, color and flavor of the towns will be brought to this California city for the first time.
He indicated that the second edition of the Tianguis Internacional de Pueblos Mágicos will be held at The Shrine Expo Hall, an area with more than 5,000 square meters, located in the center of the city of Los Angeles.
Torruco Marqués pointed out that, as part of the tourism policy of the current administration, the office under his charge undertook a series of actions with the purpose of diversifying said activity towards the 270 places with vocation that our country has, of which 177 are Magic towns.
In this way, the benefits of tourism reach the communities and the economic benefits benefit the local population, in compliance with the instruction of the president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to make tourism a tool for social reconciliation.
In this vein, in 2022 the First International Tianguis of Magical Towns was held, in Barcelona, Spain; to which 72 Magical Towns and 14 states attended in person, who exposed the great cultural, historical, natural and gastronomic offer of these destinations that have consolidated themselves as the new tourist face of Mexico.
The Secretary of Tourism stressed that California represents the main source state of tourists from the United States to Mexico; Likewise, it is the entity with the greatest air connectivity to our country.
In addition, according to the United States Census of Population, as of July 2022, there are approximately 9.7 million inhabitants in Los Angeles County, of which more than 3.4 million are Mexican, making this city, as the with the highest concentration of Mexicans abroad, only behind Mexico City. "That is why in Los Angeles you live the Magic of Mexico to the fullest!" He declared.
The head of Sectur pointed out that the Tianguis Internacional de Pueblos Mágicos 2023 will have a gastronomic area with the participation of traditional chefs and cooks who will delight visitors with typical and ancestral dishes from the different regions of Mexico, it will also have an area of crafts from all states, in addition to an auditorium with multiple cultural, musical, and artistic activities; as well as presentations on gastronomic tourism, retirement, and promotion of Magical Towns.
It will also have a specialized area for conducting face-to-face business appointments, as well as a digital platform that will allow one-on-one meetings between buyers and sellers of remote tourism services. In this sense, various Mexican tour operators will also participate, such as those that make up the National Council of Tourist Services Exporters (Conexstur) offering packages and services to the different Magical Towns of Mexico.
He added that the Tianguis Internacional de Pueblos Mágicos 2023 has strategic allies in terms of dissemination, promotion and marketing, such as México Desconocido, Volaris, Hoteles City Express, and the company Heart Artesanía, as well as the invaluable support of the General Consulate of Mexico in Los Angels.
