"Leading Destination of Mexico and Central America 2023" category, while the Costa Rican Tourism Institute was chosen "Leading Ministry of Tourism of Mexico and Central America" in the "World Travel Awards” in its 30th edition. These are the most prestigious awards in the world tourism industry and classified as "the Oscars of Tourism".
The award ceremony was held on August 26 on the Island of Santa Lucía and consolidates the country as a complete tourist destination, as our capital, San José, was also chosen as the "Leading Destination for Meetings and Conferences 2023" in Mexico and Central America. .

We thank those who contribute to this success and we reaffirm our commitment to continue raising Costa Rican tourism to even higher standards,” said William Rodríguez, Minister of Tourism.
The World Travel Awards were created in 1993 to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry and are awarded by the World Travel & Tourism Council. Currently, the brand is recognized as the main seal of excellence in the industry, and awards are made in each continent through regional galas.
The ICT repeated as the "Best Ministry of Tourism" in Mexico and Central America, an award also received at the 2019 and 2021 galas.
