Association of Hotels of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres wins Open Passport Award 2023

Mexico achieved 5 awards in this 7th edition of the event of the World Organization of Tourism Journalism

In a night full of emotions and surprises, prior to the celebration of the World Tourism Journalist Day (September 5), the World Organization of Tourism Journalism (OMPT) celebrated in Chiriquí-Panama, the 7th edition of the International Open Passport Award, that rewards the most outstanding communication specialized in tourism and tourism in general, where the Association of Hotels of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres (AHCPMIM) was awarded in the collaborating organization category for its Sustainable Hotel Communication Plan.

On the part of Mexico, 5 statuettes were achieved in total:  
1. Feel to see. San Luis Capital-Grand Prize Open Passport.
2. Lodging tax, between suspicion and mistrust-Istar Meza (Journalistic Investigation).
3. Daily Tourism Supplement El Sol de San Luis (Specialized Tourism Media).
4. San Luis by Bike (Best Tourist Proposal).
5. Association of Hotels of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres (Collaborating Organization).

Israel Urbina, General Director of I Love Mexico Travel, a public relations agency specializing in tourism that represents the Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres, attended to receive the recognition.

It was also announced at the Gala that the XXIII International Congress of Tourism Journalists and Professionals 2024 will be held in March in Campos Do Jordao, Brazil, and the 8th edition of the Open Passport Awards will be held during the first week of September in Cali, Colombia. ; country that in turn will be in charge of the general direction by 2024.

"This is the first time that the AHCPMIM has been recognized by OMPT, so we are proud to continue collaborating with the international media to maintain communication and disseminate the best of the destinations we represent together with good practices in terms of sustainability as we are doing with the Sustainable Hotel Plan”, Jesús Almaguer, President of the Association of Hotels of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres, commented from a distance.
