Although 2023 began with a contraction in the marketing of tourism products due to the airline situation, ANATO is positive regarding the trend that the sector has been showing in recent months.

According to the latest August report from the Bank of the Republic, the annual CPI continued its downward trend, standing at 11.43%. The sharp increase in the price of air tickets, which had an impact on the price of tourist packages during the first quarter of the year, was determined by the reduction in supply with the departure of the two low-cost airlines.

However, these increases have moderated substantially where even in August passenger transport by plane registered an annual increase of only 1.3%, while the annual increase in tourist packages has been 11%, which is very favorable by tending to a stabilization of prices much faster than the national total since the maximum increase in air transport recorded in the year was 42.8% (in February) and in the case of tourist packages 20.5% (in March)

“We hope that during the following months the increase will continue to moderate and hopefully with the possibility of a reduction in these prices that favors the consumer, generating an increase in demand for products and services, facing the end of the year season,” he explained. Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
