This event aims to promote the authentic tradition of Italian pizza in our region.
The competition will take place on September 30, 2023 at the La Rural property, located at Av. Participants will have the opportunity to compete in up to six different categories, demonstrating their skills in creating pizzas that meet the highest quality standards.
The call is open to pizza makers over 18 years of age, either in a personal capacity or on behalf of their pizzerias. Registration is available exclusively through the site http://www.campionatoscuolapizzaioli.ar
The championship will be attended by distinguished jurors, including Giacomo Morelli, Head of Central and South American Sales at Gi.Metal, Alessandro Esposito, Owner of Sudforni and as a special guest the renowned pizza chef Diego Vitagliano, established as the owner of pizzeria No. 1 in the world according to the latest edition of 50 Best Pizzas in The World. Diego Vittagliano, in addition to being one of the leaders in the pizza world today, feels a closeness to Argentina, and is excited to come to our country for the first time.
The first prize of this contest is a trip to Italy to compete in the Campionato Nazionale Pizza DOC. Competitors will have advice from Scuola Pizzaioli, contact with the jury and the most representative figures in the pizza world. Additionally, on the day they will have 100% Italian ovens, shovels and pizzeria accessories at their disposal.
For the general public, tastings will be offered and thematic workshops and masterclasses will be held.
In this third edition, the first to be held at FIT, the championship is once again supported by the Italian Consulate in Buenos Aires. On this occasion, it is part of the promotion of Italian gastronomy and tourism, and is particularly relevant due to the designation of 2024 as the "Year of Roots Tourism." Pizza is a fundamental element in the Italian gastronomic heritage: since 2017, Neapolitan pizza was recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
“We have the pleasure of celebrating the Campionato Scuola Pizzaioli for the third consecutive year. Along this exciting path, we have witnessed constant growth and a passion for excellence in pizza making. We are proud to be part of this process of development and dissemination of authentic Italian pizza. Beyond being an iconic dish, pizza is a symbol of Italy's cultural richness that has transcended borders, conquering palates around the world. It is an honor to invite you to be part of this new edition that is improved year after year,” says Juan Pablo Padrevita, founder of Scuola Pizzaioli.
“The Mediterranean diet and well-being will be the thematic axes of the week of Italian cuisine in the world that will take place in November. The September 30 initiative anticipates for the general public these crucial issues of promoting culinary tradition and at the same time sustainability and health within the framework of the FIT, as a contribution to the dissemination of tourism with both geographical and gastronomic roots. ”, commented the Consul of Italy in Buenos Aires, Antonio Puggioni.
