Yucatán present in the celebration of the 213 years of independence of Mexico in the United States and Canada

For several years, in the different embassies and consulates of Mexico in the world, the Celebration of the Cry of Independence of our country has been held, where a large number of Mexicans and foreigners enjoy a great party and amenities prepared by the Representations of Mexico. 

On this occasion, Yucatán was the guest state of honor in two of the most important representations of Mexico abroad, San Diego, California in the United States by Consul Carlos González Gutiérrez and in Ottawa, Canada, by Ambassador Carlos Joaquín González , where the Government of Yucatán through the Secretariat of Tourism Promotion (Sefotur) was present with photographic exhibitions, stands, gastronomy photo opportunities, artistic presentations and much more. 

During the Celebration of the Cry of Independence held at the Mexican Consulate in San Diego, nearly 5 thousand attendees highlighted different aspects of the main tourist attractions of Yucatan. 
For its part, representing the Governor, Mauricio Vila Dosal, Sefotur under the supervision of the secretary Michelle Fridman Hirsch, set up a stand to provide information on trips to Yucatán with the support of Volaris and Cross Border Xpress (CBX), offered more of 2 thousand of the representative cochinita tacos, carried out marketing activations where attendees could take advantage of the spot to take photographs and gave away two trips to the destination. 

Michelle Fridman, head of Tourism of Yucatán, highlights that being part of these celebrations is a great opportunity to bring a sample of the riches of the Yucatecan region and to promote tourism on one of the busiest and most emblematic days, such as the Celebration. of the Independence of Mexico, in two destinations with which there is important connectivity, so "we are very happy to have reached close to 20 thousand people with the promotion of Yucatán."

Meanwhile, “Mexico Week in Canada” takes place from September 13 to 19, where Yucatán, for the first time was the guest state and presented a series of Mexican cultural and gastronomic activities on the busiest pedestrian street in Ottawa, with the aim of promoting commercial, economic and cultural relations between both entities. 

Through the Yucatan International Affairs Coordination, different state agencies carried out an extraordinary representation, holding business meetings with businessmen. For the weekend, from September 15 to 17, the Folkloric Ballet of the State of Yucatán “Alfredo Cortés Aguilar” and the Orquesta Jaranera del Mayab, presented a Yucatecan dairy farm and the traditional cook Rosalía Chay Chuc, who is already world famous, Along with other representatives of Yucatecan gastronomy, they were also participating in the gastronomic meetings. 

For its part, Sefotur set up a photographic exhibition with 36 images, in addition to dressing the Mexican Embassy in Ottawa and telephone booths in said city with the colors of Yucatán and presented tourist videos at different points of the celebration, admired by almost 15 thousand attendees at the activities to celebrate the Independence of Mexico.   

It should be noted that these cities form a fundamental part of the international market for Yucatán, with whom, through direct flights with Tijuana, BC, through CBX and Toronto in Canada, there is important air connectivity. It was recently announced that the Mérida airport continues to show constant growth in indicators, breaking records for the influx of total passengers for all the months from January to August of this year, which speaks of the economic and tourist growth it has had. the state.

Previo a estas actividades, la dependencia de Turismo de Yucatán, comenzó una gira de trabajo de promoción por diferentes ciudades de la Costa Oeste de México y Estados Unidos, en compañía de representantes de la aerolínea Volaris y de CBX, así como de empresarios yucatecos,  presentándose en ciudades como Tijuana, Baja California el pasado 14 de septiembre; San Diego y Los Ángeles en California de los Estados Unidos, los días 18 y 22 de septiembre, respectivamente, con la finalidad de reforzar la promoción y la difusión de los atractivos y servicios turísticos con los que cuenta el Estado de Yucatán para el mercado norteamericano, brindando presentación de destino a 120 agencias de viaje mayoristas y minoristas, como también a más de 40 medios de comunicación de fuente turística y gastronómica, para reforzar la capacitación del producto turístico de Yucatán en diversos canales de venta para reforzar la comercialización y el aumento de los flujos turísticos en invierno del 2023 y el inicio del 2024.
