IBTM Americas held its fourteenth edition, bringing together professionals from the meetings industry. The event took place on September 13 and 14 at the Citibanamex Center in Mexico City, where they offered an extensive professional update program and keynote lectures given by national and international experts.

The General Director of IBTM Americas, Eleonora García, highlighted the achievements achieved in this edition, which include the participation of 460 companies, among which the presence of more than 70 national and international destinations stands out. The event received 3,045 general visitors, 78 speakers and 520 hosted buyers.

“We have greatly exceeded our objective, with a 23 percent increase in results compared to our 2022 goals. This success is due to the trust of our customers and visitors, and we are pleased to announce that our next edition will take place on August 21 and 22, 2024 at this same headquarters, the Citibanamex Center in Mexico City,” stated García.

In this edition, the 520 buyers came from 21 countries, 35 percent from South America and 20 percent from the United States and Canada; Together they generated 9,529 business appointments. The Organizing Committee of the event especially praised the representatives of Peru, Argentina, Colombia and the Dominican Republic, who brought a wide sample of their products, services and infrastructure to enter the Mexican market.

In this sense, the business potential at IBTM Americas amounts to 10 billion dollars according to the budget declared by the event's visitors. 

It should be noted that IBTM Americas is organized by RX México, the local office of RX, a firm that organizes more than 400 events in various industries around the world and that contributes to generating more than one million global jobs, direct and indirect, precisely in the meetings industry. Luiz Bellini, General Director of RX México, explained that the main objective of the company has been met, which is to generate business connections between professionals, he
spoke of more than one million connections a year, thus promoting the development of countries in those who operate.

During the event, it was highlighted that the global impact of the meetings industry is reflected in the generation of more than 10 million direct jobs and produces one trillion 300 billion dollars of economic benefits, a figure that is equivalent to the thirteenth largest economy in the world. world.

According to the analysis carried out by the Meetings Industry Barometer PEiiR LATAM, continuous growth has been recorded for 13 consecutive two months, this particular two months reached 9 percent growth compared to the same period of the previous year and if it is considered So far this year (January to June), cumulative growth reached 18 percent compared to the same period last year. According to the study, these results confirm the strength and constant recovery of the sector, they are a testimony to the resurgence and resilience of the Meetings Industry in the LATAM region.

As part of the closing of this edition, Gustavo Staufert, Director of the Guadalajara Visitors and Convention Bureau, handed the baton as “Guest Destination” to the Secretary of Tourism of Baja California Norte, Miguel Aguiñiga Rodríguez, with a symbolic exchange between tequila and wine, starting with this the work for the next edition.
