Starting December 4, Air France will operate a daily flight between the Juan Santamaría international airports in San José and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
For its part, KLM will operate four weekly seasonal flights that will link the Netherlands and Europe with the Central American country, from October 29 of this year to March 29, 2024.
In this way, the Air France-KLM group will offer 11 weekly flights during the European winter to connect Costa Rica even more with the world. The decision to increase frequencies by Air France and the return of the KLM seasonal flight is due to the growing demand identified by the companies in recent months, which had already led Air France to increase its weekly flights from 3 to 5. last June.
"We are very satisfied with this good news that strengthens the ties between our two countries. French citizens were the European tourists who visited Costa Rica the most during the first half of 2023, the year in which Costa Rica and France precisely commemorate the 175 years of diplomatic relations," said the French Ambassador to Costa Rica, Alexandra Bellayer-Roille.
For his part, William Rodríguez López, Minister of Tourism of Costa Rica, stated: “France is currently one of the most important European markets for Costa Rica and Air France's decision to increase the frequency to 7 direct weekly flights between "Paris and San José reflects continued confidence in our destination, and underscores the importance of our nation as an attractive destination for international tourism."
In addition to Air France's offer, KLM will operate, 4 times a week, a direct flight San José-Amsterdam-San José from the end of October to December. Starting in January and until the end of the season in March, the need to make a technical stop is studied.
For Diana Vargas, Commercial Manager of Air France and KLM for Costa Rica and Central America. “Air France's increase in frequencies, which will have gone from three weekly flights to seven in just half a year, is a reflection of the importance that Costa Rica has for the company and our commitment to the market. Additionally, KLM resumes the operation of its route to San José, on this occasion, with four weekly flights from October 29 until the end of March 2024.”
