The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, reported that the second edition of the International Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos that takes place at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California, at 1:00 p.m. this Sunday had received just over 6 thousand visitors, as well as businessmen from the tourism sector, travel agents and tour operators, and the attendance of representatives from six states of the American Union, who show great interest in visiting the 177 locations that have this appointment.
When touring the exhibition floor of this important event, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) gave recognition to each of the municipal presidents and representatives of the 142 Magical Towns from 26 states of the Republic who attend in person, for their valuable participation in this important event that promotes these beautiful destinations internationally.
In this way, he thanked the presence of Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Chihuahua, Colima, Durango, Mexico State, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacan, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo Leon, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatan and Zacatecas.
Likewise, he presented recognition to the leaders of the Mexican community in the American Union, for their outstanding contribution to the promotion of Mexico abroad.
Attendees to the International Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos enjoyed the party atmosphere, color, music, tradition and flavors, which is experienced in the more than five thousand square meters of the venue, where the stands, craft and gastronomic pavilions and the area are located. cultural.
Torruco Marqués highlighted that this edition exceeded all expectations, since its start, at the First International Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos held in Barcelona, Spain, because in addition to the number of participating locations, it has 836 exhibitors, 237 buyers and travel agents attend, who They participate in 64 business tables to carry out 1,025 business meetings.
He also reported that 140 professional visitors to the tourism sector attend, who represent a high flow of travelers from the United States, the main issuing market to Mexico, which, from January to July of this year, registered 8 million 430 thousand tourists, representing 26.8 % more than in the same period of 2019; as well as a tourist expenditure of 9,705 million dollars, this is 43.3% more than in the first seven months of 2019.
He reiterated that California is the main issuing state of international tourists to Mexico, and 4.2 million Mexicans live in Los Angeles alone, which is why it is important to hold the International Fair of Magical Towns in this city, with the purpose of promote these destinations that have established themselves as the new tourist face of Mexico.
In this vein, the Secretary of Tourism held a meeting with Peter Pincus, commercial director of CCRA, an organization that groups and represents more than 700 travel agencies in the United States, and who specializes in the high purchasing power segment, therefore which has been a great ally to promote the arrival of international tourists and the earning of foreign currency in our country.
As part of the activities, José Luis Cachafeiro, general director of G21 Comunicación, launched four digital books of Pueblos Mágicos, by México Desconocido, a platform that is fundamental in the promotion of tourist destinations, which is now strengthened with these contents in Spanish and English, and which were presented to the state Secretaries of Tourism, representatives of the Magical Towns, businessmen and the general public.
The head of Sectur emphasized his gratitude to the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles, headed by the assigned consul, Gustavo Martínez Cianca, for its invaluable support for the holding of the second International Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos, and with whom, among other topics, he spoke about the rehabilitation of El Parque de México, a relevant commemorative site of the culture and history of our country in this city, and at the same time a travel motivator.
In addition, he met with the head of the Mexican Consulate in Santa Ana, Audrey Rivera Gómez, with whom he spoke about the important role of Embassies and Consulates in the tourism promotion of Mexico abroad, even more so in a state as important as California. .
