The La Moneda Palace was the setting in which the ministers of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Álvaro Elizalde, and of Sports, Jaime Pizarro, received around twenty international and national pilots and people from the technical teams that are in Chile to compete on the eleventh date of the 2023 World Rally Championship in the Biobío Region.
The Secretaries of State had the opportunity to meet with the athletes to learn more details about the competition in which they participate, how Chile has become a recurring host of this sporting event—after the competition passed in 2019—and of what will be the date to be played in Biobío, which is also the only one of the tournament that will be held in South America.
Once the meeting was over, the Minister of the Segpres pointed out that “we received this delegation at the Palacio de La Moneda precisely to give an account of the support that we are giving to this activity within the framework of the series of sporting events that are going to take place. develop in Chile during this year. So we hope that this has coverage, since it will generate relevant tourist demand in the area and contribute to boosting the economy of the area. Likewise, this activity shows how Chile inserts itself into the world in the practice of different sports disciplines.”
For his part, the head of Sports emphasized that Chile be chosen as a venue for major sporting events. “As a government, it is an honor to have international events of the highest level, as it makes us reaffirm the potential we have as a country to organize this type of competition. This is also part of the legacy that the Santiago 2023 Games will leave us, since the experience gained will allow us to continue being a competitive option within the continent,” said Pizarro.
