Carrasco Airport is the first in Latin America with certified accessibility

In recognition of its commitment to providing the best passenger experience, Carrasco International Airport was recognized with the first level of certification in the Accessibility Improvement program of Airports Council International (ACI), a non-profit organization that represents to the airports of the world.

Uruguay's main airport became the first in the region to obtain this certification, which will be delivered during the ACI-LAC 2023 Annual Conference in Miami, United States, which will take place from November 5 to 7, an event that will be attended by representatives of Uruguay Airports.

The certification, valid for three years, recognizes Carrasco Airport for successfully demonstrating its corporate commitment to accessibility through its strategy, policies and initial implementations.

This is in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the 2019 ACI Annual General Assembly resolution and international best practices and recommendations.

ACI highlights the premise that airports must prioritize national regulations in all matters related to accessibility, safety and inclusion of travelers, airport workers and the visiting public, while improving access. and eliminate barriers to the passenger experience.
